Richard, are you sure this is a major concern? I discussed this point with my uro & he claimed the anticholinergic effects of antihistamines (at least Atarax) are very small, compared to, say, that of bladder control meds. Basically, no biggy, according to him.scotsman wrote:I'm concerned with taking antihistamines due to the anticholinergic effect on prostatic and bladder smooth muscle.
Did you give it enough time? I also felt discomfort, not to mention terrible drowsiness, the first 2-3 weeks of trying it - but after that any side effects seem to dissipate. Now I take it regularly, 20-30mg daily (while discontinuing Detrol for bladder control) & I have to say, coincidentally or not, I feel better than I did a month ago.I tried Atarax last year for my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and was in a fair amount of pain with it so stopped.
I should add that I take Atarax concurrently with Quercetin, but you mentioned that didn't help you either.
Best, Dave
