You might be right.

I might still just try those antibiotics that helped last time. I mean, if the tests are all correct (no false negatives) it means there are no bacterial infections that I could cause resistance to by using a wrong antibiotics. If it’s a false negative though, there’s a chance the antibiotics could work again. And yes, I know it’s desperate.

I’m reading your post about what “true CBP” is. There it talks about checking the EPS for bacteria. This is something that I haven’t done. Is there are chance that a bacterial infection only shows in the EPS but not in the urine, semen, or discharge (all of which came back negative)?

You've had numerous tests of your genitourinary tract, including PCR and MicroGenx DX, more extensive testing than 99.9999% of men have. All negative or unremarkable.

Really, your hope that all you have is a bacterial infection is a form of self-delusion. Men with chronic bacterial infections have a certain picture that you don't fit. Your intrusive thoughts about a "discharge deep inside your penis" is a bit like body dysmorphic disorder, and so you now have psychological problem more than a physical one.

I know it is very hard to let go the bacterial idea, I have the same. At times I also think that it must be a bacteria or so, but if all those advanced tests show nothing pathogenic, you must let go...

The hard part is, what’s next....

I am trying to become healthy, do sports, clear my mind, etc.

@ webslave: Believe me, I don’t want to have an infection and risk that it could be a drug-resistant Mycoplasma Genitalium. And when I look inside my penis, squeeze the head a bit and then see some sticky fluid coming up, it makes me worry because I normally don’t have that unless I have an STI.

Just a side note regarding MicroGen DX, a guy on Reddit was tested positive for Ureaplasma Parvum after a negative MicroGen DX. Makes me wonder how reliable that “next generation” testing really is.

I’m still hoping it’s just residual symptoms and the urethra needs time to heal from an infection. Subjectively I think I’m feeling better, at least in terms of urge to pee. The discharge hasn’t disappeared though.

I’ve read the story from the ‘reddit guy’
He had unprotected sex in between tests. Ureaplasma Parvum is found in 40-80% of sexually active women and doesnt cause any issues in low load

@amnesia: The problem is that there are always some persons on the Internet who had an exceptional experience.. it’s very dangerous to search always for proof for your worries

Also if you want to have peace of mind your GP can ask for that test.
Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma are "easy" to grow in culture (minus the mgen), it's just a urine or swab and off you go.

At this point I’ll just sit and wait. Maybe I’ll take a round of Azithromyzin just to have it tried.

1) I went back to the ID doc. I had the appointment scheduled to discuss whatever the MicroGenDX says. He didn’t find the Staph a reason to be concerned but anyway we did another round of PCR test on FVU, culture of discharge, urinalysis and culture of midstream urine. All tests came back negative (still waiting for the discharge culture); the WBC is also back to normal (0-1 only).

2) I then went back to the uro as the ID doc recommended to check the issue of not emptying my bladder completely. The uro didn’t find the 70 cc a reason to be concerned about; he said it’s not that much and probably caused by drinking a lot before those tests. He asked me to go pee right there and then do a bladder ultrasound which came back at 20 ml residual urine which he said is normal. I thought it’s a no-brainer since I had peed three times the evening before, one time during the night and one time in the morning after getting up. Still he thought that’s all normal (considering I had half liter water in the evening) and that it’s all just residual symptoms after an infection. He said it can take three months to go away and I should just relax and keep drinking a lot of water; not too much but 2-3 liters a day and no soda, coffee or alcohol.

To be fair, I think my symptoms improved over time. I believe many guys are feeling much worse than I do. I don’t have significant pain; some dull aching in the testicles and perineum comes when/after playing football mostly. There’s the discharge which the doctor thinks is just mucus from the urethra healing. The main symptom is going to pee much more often and with smaller amounts than usual, and a feeling of dribbling/wetness after.

The three months are over next week so let’s see how I feel then.

Are you aware of anything to speed up or support healing of the urethra? I’ll keep playing football twice a week. Even though it causes me symptoms in that moment and afterwards, I think sports is good against inflammation.

Not sure if I should anti-inflammation supplements to my diet maybe. Or just drink plenty of water and wait and see.

Quercetin works against inflammation according to published science, also flower pollen extract has some supportive studies.

The discharge culture checking for Mycoplasma Hominis and Ureaplasma also care back negative now. Time to forget about an infection.
