I have a question for you, because I have the same problem with the erections. Have you taken any Alpha 1 Blockers like Flomax (Tamsulosin) at any time during this? Because that can be a cause of the erections. In my case it hasn't gone away in 3 yrs.cam3roni wrote: Thu Sep 13, 2018 10:00 amI have one concern though, and its perplexing to me. It seems that no matter the time of night, if I wake up, I will have an erection. This started the same time I initially had symptoms.
Age: 52 | Onset Age:49 (but I may have had warning signs 25 yrs earlier)| Symptoms: Pretty much all the usual suspects. Frequency, urgency, inability to always empty, burning and numbing uretheral, penile & perineum pain. Frequent urination at night.| Helped By: Internal PT. Myrbetriq helps but is by no means great. TENS to help sleep, and hand held massages of the lower back, hips and buttocks. Standing and physical labor help. Stretches and hot baths. Occasionally use gel iced pad on the perineum. Worsened By: Sitting (being sedentary), driving, sex, bowel movements, tight clothing and underwear. | Other comments: Currently trying L-Theanine

I have not. The only medications I have taken are antibiotics.ChgoGuy wrote: Thu Sep 13, 2018 10:40 pmHave you taken any Alpha 1 Blockers like Flomax (Tamsulosin) at any time during this?

Re: Prostatitis going on 2 months. My story, your advice.
So now I'm starting to wonder if the erections are caused by the Tamsulosin or this condition!? It's hard to tell considering the erections started at the beginning of this and I started taking Tamsulosin that very first day. But indeed they claim that the drug can cause the erections. Well - I get up 6-7 times per night because of urgency, so I don't sleep. That being said, I guess I don't have to fear having one for over 3-4 hours. Soon as I attempt to pee it goes away in 10min or less. Some nights it happens 3-4 times. Some nights it doesn't happen at all. Have you noticed that when you get them, there is a difference that day of the intensity of your symptoms?
Thanks for the info!

Fortunately I don't have frequent urination so I don't have to pee throughout the night. But if I do decide to pee, the erection goes away almost instantly when I get up. My symptoms in the morning are worse if I have erections constantly during the night. It's an annoying thing because how the hell am I suppose to not have an erection? I'm freakin asleep, I can't help it!

Current update--
PT did an electromyograph reading by placing nodes around rectum. My resting muscle was a rating of between 7-10. They claimed this was above average but I don't have anything to base this off of myself. Clenching my pelvic floor brought me up to a 15.
I still am stretching 3 times a day. Using a heating pad when I can. Using my therawand internally, still having trouble finding specific trigger points though. I massage my prostate once every two days, cause it doesn't hurt so why not? I'm already "in there".
I still have an ache in my perineum that is always there to some degree. Ejaculation force is still weak. Urination is still not as forceful as when I was normal.
That's all I got for now

One symptom I have when ejaculating is that the pulsating squeezes that propel semen out, aren't as strong as they were before all this. Its a feeling of incomplete emptying of semen. Would a not properly functioning prostate or bulbospongiosis muscle cause this?

Re: Prostatitis going on 2 months. My story, your advice.
Combination of chronically tense muscles in pelvis becoming weaker so that ejaculatory force is lessened, plus some constriction of prostatic ducts from inflammation.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Got it, ugh I wish it could be attributed to one single thing.
In other news I finished my 4 week course of levo. Lets hope I don't decline...

Re: Prostatitis going on 2 months. My story, your advice.
Not sure if related but a few days after stopping antibiotics, I woke up last night and was vomiting all night and had a flare up. Probably just a stomach bug, but I'm pretty miserable laying in bed with nausea and pelvic pain. Urinating burns again but that may be due to dehydration. I will report back when I'm feeling better...

Possibly, 5 weeks doxy, 1 week zithro, 3 days Cipro, and 5 week combo of levo + zithro probably wasn't good for my gut, but I am no expert. This is the first time I ever had to be put on an IV. Throwing up constantly and hadn't been able to hold a sip of water down for over 24 hours. IV helped a lot. They inspected my urine as per norm, they said no UTI, which is good news cause the burning on urination was scaring me. At this point I'll keep blaming that on dehydration, urine was extremely yellow.

Re: Prostatitis going on 2 months. My story, your advice.
Feeling better from stomach issues. Went to PT this morning. I am really able to pinpoint my pain area to be located on the upper left side if my bulbo muscle. She usually does internal PT for pelvic issues but she claim for my specific pain area, internal PT would only aggravate. She says light external massage is best for this area. She used ultrasound, laser, and then massaged it. By the end of the session I felt my entire left leg in minor discomfort. I will switch from doing self internal work to self external work and see if that provides better results. My PT is very proud of her 92% cure rate in men with pelvic issues. Dont know if she is really that successful but that's what she reports.
Anyone have thoughts on her saying the internal would only aggravate?
Current symptoms: ache in perineum, weak ejaculation, weakerish urine stream.

What external areas specifically is the target area to massage the muscles?

Essentially all around the left side of the bulbospongiosis muscle, even going as far back to near the anus at some points during massage. But keeping main focus on wear it brings discomfort. She also said doing light internal work just below the prostate would probably be beneficial as well.
And boy am I glad she didn't do any internal work cause she whipped out a therawand that was 5 times thicker than the one I have hahaha.
