There are 4 types, from I to IV.
No, there are not. There are 4 types of prostatitis, I to IV. chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is type III.

He knows nothing. You are wasting your time with him.

Hi guys

Haven't posted in a while, so here's an update. As always, your advice is appreciated.

Still have many symptoms - but they fluctuate. I still have urinary issues; I get burning on urination/discomfort after urination 5/10 times. Recently I've had pain in my left hip. Testicular pain has died down thankfully. Muscular pain in the rectum has got worse, as has the lower back pain

I have been taking St Johns wort and this has lifted my mood and a supplement called Prostabrit.

Still doing occasional TP therapy and regular stretching

I am thinking about going on amitriptyline. I tried this before at 10mg and although it helped, it turned me into a zombie. Can you get them in 5mgs?

Still despite all this things aren't too bad

Take care

If you cannot get the 5mg tabs, use a pill cutter

Hi all

Most of my discomfort now comes from pre/post urination. I can feel discomfort just before I urinate and am left with a feeling with urethra discomfort. This usually calms down after 5 mins or so, but it leaves a nerve pain/cold sensation on my upper thighs and penis tip. Any ideas?

Much appreciated

A few ideas:
- Have you tried tracking your water intake? It may just be a case of dehydration.
- Are you on any drugs? Have you tried or considered trying an alpha blocker or Urelle?
- Have you tried tracking your diet to see if any foods trigger discomfort on urination?

Thanks for the reply

I began drinking about 8 glasses of water a day from yesterday to see if it helps out. Only thing is it obviously makes me pee more, which means more discomfort.

I am on no drugs, just some supplements( st johns wort, starflower and magnesium oxide). I am seriously thinking about medication though. Can anyone tell me the names of medication that helped them with these urinary issues?

Diet wise, i have tried lots of combinations - can't put my finger on anything that particularily flares me.

Funny thing is as i sit typing, i feel pain free, until toilet time :62_58_40:

I don't think you need 8 glasses of water a day, at least if you are not sweating or exercising every time. You can judge it by the color of the urine. I have read in one article that drinking too much water is bad for the health and a burden for the kidneys.
(search google "why drinking too much water is bad for your health")
