I hope it lasts for as long as the doctor says it will last for, which he claimed (if it worked) would be 6-8 weeks. I made a post in one of the other sections asking about it, but it doesn't seem like its talked about much as a treatment for CPPS. Although, the doctor I was seeing (Christopher P. Smith) who was a specialist for CPPS/prostatitis was the one that referred me for it. I'm just wondering what I should do now though while it's active. Any stretching, walking, healthy eating, and other mental/physical exercises that I tried to do to improve my condition did absolutely nothing for me last time. But if this nerve block keeps my pain away for awhile like it's supposed to, I'll be willing and able to be more active.
You may want to try reading some books and such on anxiety as well as the DSMV (diagnostic manual for mental conditions) for such conditions as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)/PD, OCD, Tourettes syndrome etc. Anxiety spectrum disorders often overlap as they affect the same area of the brain. Much ADHD is actually attention deficit due to anxiety. With Generalized Anxiety disorder /Panic disorder one will be at a constant higher level of resting anxiety with panic /catastrophic-what if thinking occurring at a much lower threshold than the general population. Depression concomitant with anxiety disorder is usually the rule as the anxiety brings about the depression.

About 2% of the general population is schizophrenic. Another 2% are bipolar -- this is about 1 out of 25 people. If you have relatives in your family tree, especially close ones, suffering from the more serious mental health issues, the odds of you yourself suffering from this is greatly increased. The odds of suffering from significant depressive disorder , anxiety spectrum disorders , personality disorders is even greatly increased.

You can ask your shrink what the difference between a depressive personality and depressive disorder is. The real fun is where they disagree on this stuff. Although some shrinks have tried the actual anti-psychotic drugs (usually reserved for schizophrenia and bipolar depression and other physical symptoms such as persistent hiccups) the higher doses (as webslave notes) of the common psychotropic drugs (all the prozacs, remeron, about 12 other names) have been tried for anxiety.

One item to truly try is the ancient lithium, that simple salt on the periodic table that has proven helpful for people with certain symptoms for many decades, sometimes in conjunction with an antidepressant.

You may need to take care of the anxiety problem before progress with the physical symptoms can be made.
