A quick update on my progress. I've still been working extremely hard at getting better, mainly through continuing to eliminate anything and everything that causes flares and also continue to work hard everyday on my mental health and happiness.

I'm still symptom free 90% of the time with only minor subtle feelings of the chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome from time to time, however I do feel like I could flare very easily if I did the wrong things.

I'm having sex about 3-4 days a week and usually about twice on each of those days. I have about 4 different partners I've been rotating through. I masturbate about 1-2x/week too and never to porn. I don't seem to be having any issues with this amount of sexual activity...but any porn with masturbation or even just porn and I will definitely have a flare for about 1-2 days after.

I also am still feeling fasciculations pretty regularly, they're just like little flutters or spasms in my perineum. I'm taking this as a good thing, but who knows.

I feel like the big key for me now is to continue preventing flares, allowing my pelvic neuro muscular region to continue to heal.

I did have a pretty big flare about a month ago, I jumped the gun on getting back to more intense workouts and did a big squatting routine, I was flared for about a week. I've also had a few minor porn slips and flared for about 1-2 days after those.

I really want to get back to working out with weights again, biking and other fun things but I'm going to give it another 4-6 months before I attempt any of those things.

My mental happiness and stability is finally almost completely back to normal. This was done through reading self help books, socializing every day, diet with emphasis on fruits and vegatables and self acceptance...and other things. ie setting goals for myself, following a planned routine everyday, etc.

I wish everyone on here the best with this condition. Sorry for not posting more often, just trying to forget about this condition for the most part and getting on here doesn't help with that. I check this site about once a week now so if anyone has any questions please ask.

Peace!
Age: 29 Onset Age: 29 (6-5-11)
Symptoms: Ache/sore in the perineum, inflamed/golf ball in perineum. Painful erections. Pain after ejaculation and during sex. Slight increase in urination but nothing severe (this use to be much worse and has gotten better).
Helped By: Hot baths, Sleep/laying down, exercise, relaxing, klonopin/valium/Ativan, having fun
Worsened By: sex/ejaculation/arousal/porn, sitting, stress/anxiety, rubbing/touching prostate
My story This whole thing started immediately following an extensive porn/masturbation weekend event, basically 5 4hour long masturbation sessions over a 3 day weekend, constantly holding off my orgasm by tensing PC muscle. I've also been masturbating and having sex like a porn star for the past 8 years now, constantly holding off the ejaculation by tensing PC muscle....so bad!! My CPPS has gotten slightly better after stopping porn/masturbating amongst other things and I'm now left with the main symptom listed above. I'm also a recovering porn addict.

How exactly do you end up with 4 rotating partners lol. I guess your showing off a bit. ;) No need to answer.... :)

I think you're right if on a roll with recovery no need to be posting here - come and go as it feels right for you. Very good point!

I would, personally, say your sexual activity is rather high for chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome but if you are feeling good you know your own body so that is the bottom line.

Spasms are potentially one the causes of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome pain/symptoms. I think what you mean is you have sensations returning - and that is positive.

Porn is not for chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome at all - well done on the control!

Personally I use lighter weights, higher reps (if training does not flare you certainly keep working out). See a trainer at your gym about how you can maintain your physique without stressing too much (I am sure together you can work a middle ground out). Squats are bad for chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome with weights; they open up the pelvic floor directly! Fine and beneficial as a stretch but pushing weight down into a squat is not good. I am the same, no squats. Again speak with your trainer you don't need to squat, there are other ways.

Good luck mate and thank you for the positive post - very much appreciated!

Thanks guys!

I attempted to do squats with just 10 lb dumbbells and I flared badly for about a week, now I did do about 50 in a row for 3 sets, haha. I've been doing about 3 sets of push-ups 3 times a week and its helped to keep my upper body in shape but my lower body looks like a twig, haha.

4 partners is pretty easy when you go out 2-3 days a week to approach girls at bars for 7 years now.... so its been easy to keep a few around, haha.

hey tweezerr,

I'm like you. I am aching to get back into an exercise regime.

Do you find pushups cause you any issues for you ? I did some today for the first time in a month and I felt pretty horrible afterwards.

Anytime that I've tried to work out since things got bad again for me, I have really paid attention to what my pelvic floor is doing while I'm exercising and I've noticed it's tightening... obviously that needs to be avoided, with the right concentration I believe it is possible to force it to relax while working out. Or just avoid core workouts, they certainly are the best for results but they may cause flare ups.

Sometime Urgency and Frequency as well as hesitation | Helped By: Self therapy as well as once monthly physical therapist meetings. Relaxation of pelvic muscles. Quit Smoking. | Worsened By: pelvic floor tightening. Anxiety

Squats tend to be pretty irritating for us CPPSers. You might want to take it easy with those. Both walking and swimming are good way to keep the legs in shape without an excess of strain. It seems like running and biking are more an issue. Anyways, clearly you are familiar with working out, but for others, they might be tempted to take it a little far :)

PS, you cannot force yourself to relax. Relaxation is the absence of effort or action. Sounds like you need to practice doing less (and thinking about doing less). One of the ultimate difficulties for us!

I am finding the elliptical is okay for me because its so low impact.

Running is bad. It just causes knots everywhere in the lower half of the body... Lots of tightness too.
