First of all, I want to thank all of you for your willingness to help out (despite some of you having gone into remission). Your knowledge and your stories of hope mean so much to me.
I am 26 years old and my story is as follows and I was hoping some of you could perhaps shed some light on my situation:
I am an avid exerciser. I have been exercising very hard for roughly a year or so. I was doing a lot of interval training, lunges, jumps, squats, pushups, jogging, you name it. NOTE: I never train with weights. I train exclusively with my body weight and resistance.
A little while back, I would notice a strange tingle in my groin when I would leap up from a plank position to a squat. I thought really nothing of it, I thought perhaps it was a hernia (the doctor disconfirmed this). I also would notice the same feeling when I was doing one-armed pushups. It did go away though...
Fast forward a couple of months... I had a really crazy stressful/depressing 3 months. Girlfriend moved to a different city, I spent a lot of time sitting because I was studying for the LSAT (stressful law school exam) and keeping up with my exercise routine. Needless to say very stressful few months. Was consuming 1-2 cups of coffee a day, the occasional weekend I'd have a few beers, was having a lot of dairy too.
So I think my stressful period had something to do with the onset of symptoms (I do have a history of anxiety / panic attacks). So this is how it all began - (after a weekend of skiing) I woke up in the middle of the night with a strange discomfort / pressure in my penis when I had an erection. I woke up the next day tried to ejaculate and the more aroused I became (the closer to orgasm) the more discomfort and pressure I experienced. I went to the doctor and told me I had rolled on myself while sleeping and I had just caused some swelling and it would go away with an anti-inflammatory. Of course it didn't.
I then had my prostate checked and my doctor told me I had prostatitis (it was swollen). Prescribed Cipro, reacted adversely, so then I was on Bactrim. I hated it. I did bloodwork, a few urine tests, all confirming I had no bacteria / no STI's.
Here are some of my symptoms:
- Discomfort primarily when sitting on perineum (usually causes pain to shoot into my right hip)
- Occasional testicle pain (feels like swelling in right testicle - haven't had it for a few weeks)
- Golf ball feeling in rectum
- Right hip pain - can shoot down my quad a bit...
- Strange pressure / discomfort in penis - like I constantly want to flex my pelvic muscles to relieve tension
- Urinary frequency / dribbles / inconsistency (starts and stops)
- NO BURNING WHEN I PEE OR EJACULATE (Thank god!)
- Some discomfort after sex, like a throbbing in the prostate.
A few other things:
Ejaculate every few days... Semen looks normal, very white.
I'm on:
- Broccoli treatment
- Quercetin
- Prosta Plus
- Vitamin B
- Magnesium (seems to be helping)
- L-Theanine
I've ordered the book Headache in the Pelvis.
I'm off to see a urologist in 2 days.
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF STRENUOUS EXERCISE CAN CAUSE MY PELVIC FLOOR TENSION?
I would appreciate any insight fella's'. I know my situation could be a lot worse. Its manageable and I can live with it. My biggest frustration is my inability to sit. YOU GUYS RULE ! THANK YOU!
