Re: Erection leads to flare-up
Ouch, to the topic above. I just need to vent this out somewhere. Seeing a new girl and she knows about my issues. We cuddled and made out for a long period of time. To the point where i was having some pain and then didn't want to have sex, because i know it would end with an even worse flair.
At that point she was a bit upset because she was hoping something would happen. So had I been, but I reached the point of "in pain" and not wanting to start intercourse. After she left, i did the bunny crouch because i couldnt find a comfortable position. For me at these times, peeing would be worse, even though I get the urge to pee then. But peeing tends to set off a 10/10 pain flair (just like i NEVER pee right after sex!). So I tend to need to wait an hour till thing calm down a bit.
The pain I am getting after the sustained erection is sharp and shooting in the tip of the urethra that comes and goes. Usually lasts an hour or so after the erection has stopped. And some pre-ejaculation fluid is all out. Tensing the muscles lessons the amount of times they come, but they hurt more. Relaxing the muscles allows more freq but less strong?? (Yes, I have studied "wise" protocols).
Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience. See if anyone else is having something similar going on, and what they are doing about the symptom specifically?
Take care...

Heat packs, I use these as much as possible, they seem to engulf the area in heat and warmth, and this overpowers the pain and tension.
I get the microwaveable ones, they contain a grain. I use them whilst watchin tv and driving to work and even in bed. They are cheap and simple and they work a treat!

Re: Internal Massage observations and new symptoms.
It is your muscles. I've gone through all those symptoms myself. It took many years to get things back in order and your muscles will always want to resort back to the tightened place the longer you have had this condition. I can tell you it will get better but you have to break through to the other side. Internal massage is an important path you need to continue on. I suggest you listen to your body as you massage it out and do it in a relaxed state. Go easy on yourself and give it time. The sphincter muscles are some of the hardest to massage out. Also make sure to focus on the external muscles. Especially the ones around the inner thigh and just above the penis. I had focussed so much attention on internal muscles that I went for years not realizing one of the biggest muscles contributing to my erections was external and to the upper left side of my penis and left testicle. This was a huge eye opener for me. ;)

Re: Internal Massage observations and new symptoms.
Alright man, I will remember your words. Actually that really gives me some encouragement. Its good that you mention how hard it is to massage the anal sphincter out, because that muscles feels almost like scar tissue, the muscles are just knotted up like hell.neue01 wrote:It is your muscles. And you are right, I also have like a burning tight band of muscles inside of each inner tight, massaging it really hard can give me blue spots for the next few days and better erections.
So yeah, thanks for the encouragement!

Re: Internal Massage observations and new symptoms.
neue01 hit the nail on the head. Alpha, a few other things you might want to pay attention to:
--Be careful with how vigorous you massage the sphincter. I've had flare-ups that have lasted up to two weeks because I've been way too aggressive.
--If you find that your external muscles (esp. the rectus abdominis) are very stubborn, you might want to look into trigger point injections. These are usually performed by pain management specialists.

Re: Erection leads to flare-up
Okay, so I've been through a ton of this stuff over the years. I really strongly feel that most of us are here from over use of these muscles through sex and masturbation. The muscles involved in these activities have been over used and are shortened and tightened up. The only way out of this for me was internal massage as well as a bit of external. I really strongly believe that massage is the only way through this. simply waiting, holding off or trying to relax is okay but will never break up the muscle knots and begin to really heal the muscles. You will have to get in there and manipulate them to see real effect. It took me 3 years and I went through all manner of flare ups. I even stirred up issues at points that I never even had to begin with. Like I said I've been through almost all things that get complained about on this board in the flare ups I've had over the years form PT. It has to be done and you have to go through it to get better. The muscles are stubborn and take time to work out and heal. Once they start to heal you need to go easy and have to watch your sexual habits and holding patterns. It's a long road but there is hope. I've made the most massive strides in the last 3 months as I found a major TP externally after neglecting to massage external muscles over the last 2 years. Instead I focused obsessively on internal muscles when I should have been looking at the whole picture. ;)

1. I am convinced that excessive sex/masturbation or any other practice that manipulates the sexual organs and involved muscles in an unnatural way, like Kegels or those "Penis Enlargement Exercises" are the main cause for CPPS, as they repetitively over many years strain the muscles of the pelvic and other surrounding muscles until they knot up and become this deoxygenated, tensed up mess.
2. Just waiting and for example living abstinent is NOT the solution. In our case, time alone won't heal us. I agree that regaining a natural, relaxed sex life and probably daily, disciplined massage for many years is the only way out.
I mean on the one hand feeling these knot up, burning muscles everywhere inside of my pelvic floor and on the other hand hearing from all my doctors in the past, that I am healthy and my penis has no problems, I know this is the answer.
Tightened up, deoxygenated muscles, which irritated the nerves and all other tissue inside the pelvic floor, which have to become deconditioned through daily massage.

Re: Triggerpoints in connective tissue?
Alpha, I'm just starting to slowly stroke over those small dots and sore "strings" and rub them gently. Even this causes a lot of pain during and also the next day...bu rectal area will just be on fire.
Obviously, having any pain in the rectum is not normal so I'm betting these are just tiny, but very very painful types of trigger points.
How have you been doing with it Alpha? Any better?

Re: Erection leads to flare-up
Pain in the penis can be referred from various muscles but I had very similar symptoms and with the help of Amy Flutterman traced most of them to the bulbospongiosus muscle and the ischio-cavernous muscle- these are very superficial muscles and easily accessible with external massage- I've written several posts about how to treat these muscles, do a search through my name and you should be able to find them.
Age:22 | Onset Age:16.5 | Symptoms: Pain with extended sitting, Pain shortly folllowing urination, mostly above pubic bone, Pain after defecation mostly around external sphincter, Pain after ejaculation mostly in Urethra | Helped By: Progressive and Moment to Moment Relaxation, Stretching, Bed Rest (laying down and relaxing muscles), Hot Baths, Hot Showers, | Worsened By: Alcohol (variably), Ejaculation, Urination, Defecation, Stress, Extended Sitting, Sleeping in the wrong position, tensing my muscles while writing or doing anything else stressful/intense, Progress: 65%, basically only dealing with post-ejaculatory pain, onset after about an hour, peaks for 3-6 hours and then remains sore for a day.

Re: Erection leads to flare-up
Yes indeed. I've got an unfortunate situation - a long-distance relationship. I see my girlfriend once every 4-5 weeks, we have sex every night for three or four nights, then nothing for weeks. The visits usually result in a flare-up after the fact. In an ideal world, I would think 3 times a week every other day would help my CPPS, but we don't live an ideal world!
Age: 54 | Onset Age:On and off for 20 years | Symptoms:Primary pain in groin, testicles, and perineum, less frequent in penile tip and suprapubic area. | Helped By: Heat applications, some stretches (though there may be more pain initially), meditation/relaxation, trigger point work. | Worsened By: Bowel movements, ejaculation, sitting. Jury is still out on PT/internal.

Intolerance for wearing tight pants and nerve pain (?)
Hey guys,
Does anybody else along with the other chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms suffers from intolerance for tight pants? When I wear a jeans or any pants that is fitting tight or is made out of a hard material, I get a burning sensation, tingling in the (upper) legs and some of my urinary and sexual problems worsen.
How could that be explained?
Another thing I want to check up with you guys is this:
I won't be able to do PT with a professional until October, when I plan to go to the chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome clinic in the Netherlands, but I experimented with the help of "A Headache in the pelvic" self-treatment.
What I noticed, is, that even so I do not find any triggerpoints inside my pelvis, I get burning, but still tolerable, pain pressing down 12 o'clock from directly a few centimeter upon entering the anus up to the highest point in the front I can reach with my finger, which is the position where the Alcocks canal runs down, if I understand correctly.
Also pressing that area I have to pee!
Because I also suffer from slightly reduced sensation/numbness in the penis and tingling in the upper legs, this fuels into my strong fear of this condition called "pudendal nerve neuralgia". I don't have pain upon sitting so, fortunately.
So could the intolerance for tight pants and the non-triggerpoint related pain in the 12 o'clock position where the nerves run along also be explained by classical CPPS?

Re: Intolerance for wearing tight pants and nerve pain (?)
I have had this for over 17 years - started after being treated for NSU
I have to wear light cotton/ polyester all the time; material like jeans/cords really annoy me.
Its like a cold, tingling nerve pain, in the upper front thighs - made even worse when I have a flare/have heightened anxiety. It has various degrees of discomfort.
When I wear shorts, the discomfort is at its lowest - heat also helps; when I'm on a hot holiday I feel great
I always was told by a consultant it was 'phantom pain/deferred pain', arising from the condition, but no one seems to know for a 'fact'.

I still think it is related to CPPS, because it came slowly togehter with my other symptoms.
@webslave: Could you imagine it being some how related to CPPS? Do you think the same approach: PT/Psychotherapy/Relaxation could get rid of it?
Oh and webslave, I asked about Pudendal Neuralgia because this site: http://www.tipna.org/info/SymptomsInfo.htm lists "Intolerance to tight pants." as a common symptom.
But on the same time I dont have the symptoms that you in another thread discribed as crucial to having Pudendal Neuralgia, being "Pain upon sitting, numb penis and Incontinence".
Well I have decreased feeling in the Penis, but not complete numbness.
I share you scepticism about Pudendal Neuraliga, I just think I have those few symptoms which are uncommon for classic CPPS. I HOPE I have CPPS, because than I can be healed by patient, disciplin and training.

Its an infection I developed after a sexual encounter when I was 21
It was treated and cleared of infection, but was the trigger for the condition
