Blood is from internal hemorrhoids, most likely. Your best bet is to wait until a very good wand is released on the market, which I suspect will happen later this year. Not sure about vibrating tools.

Re: Self-Treatment: Resources and Routine
Ken where do you live? I live in Australia and it took me ages to get up the guts to go. All I can say is I wish I had done it years ago. My family and I lost years to this thing and now I am 90% I have to pinch myself. Today I ate two apples and nothing no burn no urgency. And sat in a dealing room for 8 hours. Only twinge was after one hour in a meeting with very hard chairs where I had forgotten my cushion. Think about going seriously you only get one life you have to live it the best you can. I am lucky to be in an affluent situation but even if I wasn't I think I would have borrowed the money.
CPP since 2005. Prior to CPP always overly fit and active. I am female. Had two natural births: singleton 1998 and twins 2000. 2002 emergency back surgery - L5S1 herniation. Then recurring UTIs. Usual antibiotic overload. Then constant debilitating burning bladder and reaction to many foods. Australian Pain Clinic 2007. Turning point was Dec 2009 Attended Wise Clinic in Santa Rosa USA.
Was helped by strict diet but now eating normally after years of restricted diet - wonderful. Helped by: stretching, relaxation, yoga, trigger point, warm baths. Worsened by: stress, sitting, abdominal or glute exercises and salicylates
Medication: Now off all pain clinic meds no more Endone or Elavil only Lyrica 50 mg as Dec 2010 just reherniated L5S1disc and had discectomy. Its taken years but I feel I am over it.

@Sherridin: I am from Germany and I am a student. I really don't have the funds to make the trip.
Another question that is related to the self-massage:
One of my symptoms is kind of congestions in turn with liquid stool. Like either its difficult to pass stool or I have loose stool.
I found that when I massage my sphincter muscle and the first 10 cm inside really carefully, that I often get bowel movement. Its like massaging certain muscles make me pass stool super easily. I think that is proof enough, that my problems in that area a clearly caused by chronically tightened muscles that prevent a normal bowel movement.
Its just super annoying, because I cannot do the internal massage without having to go on the toilet every few minutes, because doing the internal massage just causes the bowel movement. So its kinda messy and disgusting because its like massaging, taking a crap, massaging, taking a crap... anyone has a similar problem?

Age: 26 | Onset Age: 16 (but got much worse around 22) | Symptoms: hard, cold flaccid penis; reduced sensation/numbness; diminished erections; premature ejaculation; urinary frequency; burning urination; urgency (bladder and urethea inflammation); painful ejaculation | Helped By: Exercise, cold shower, internal massage, massage of inner tights, abstinence, stretching | Worsened By: sex/masturbation; working on the computer too long | Other comments: I am always worrying it is nerve-related and cannot heal naturally.

Honestly? Nobody interested in discussing Selfmassage? I feel really kinda lost with it. Would really hear about it from someone who has more experiences with it.
Could someone at least tell me which kind of lubrication/oil is the best for daily use without harming/irritating the tissue of the colon?
Should I use babyoil, "sex"lubrication, some natural oil?

Re: Self-Treatment: Resources and Routine
I've wondered about this as well
I've never been diagnosed with CPPS, but I have virtually all of the symptoms, and it has been going on for years.
In order to go to some kind of clinic or PT place, I need a diagnosis--but virtually no doctor is going to give me one (yet). chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is poorly understood and not universally recognized in the medical community.
So I could try self-massage, but I'm nervous about it. I've had problems with fissures and hemorrhoids ...

Triggerpoints in connective tissue?
Recently I started massaging my pelvic floor internally and externally every day. Now I made a interesting observation. It always was kinda painful to massage or just touch the area around my anus. It was even painful to wipe it after going to the toilet. Now I found that this burning pain comes from a bunch of little burning, painful knots, like the head of a needle, which are all around my Anus, almost like a network, every 5mm there is one of them and if I press or massage them they start to hurt and burn A LOT.
Sometimes I press on them with a tool and its almost unbearable pain. NOW, I don't think they are normal triggerpoints because they are not really in the muscle tissue but directly under the skin, I can pinch the skin and lift it up, then roll it and feel all the little knots under it. I think they are in the connective tissue or under the skin?
Does this account as triggerpoints?
Also around 5 cm inside of my rectum I feel EXTREMELY painful to touch areas all around, but here its not like little nots, but larger areas of tender tissue, feels almost like raw, open wounds and I can feel strings or like hard muscle fibers some of them are almost 1-2 cm long. They just feel tender and raw, not the sharp, burning pain of the knots outside.
Are both of those phenomena "triggerpoints"?
At least I feel a deep sense of relaxation and sometimes tiredness after massaging them for a while. Sometimes I get also a spontaneous erection or a general sense of better bloodflow after massaging in and around the anal sphincter, so it seems like its connected to my normal feeling of being tense and my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms.
I am just wondering because 1) it both doesn't seem like the classic triggerpoints as described in HITP and 2) some people here talk about triggerpoints or "problem areas" several inches up the rectum, but all my painful, tight, burning areas seem to be centered around the sphincter.

Re: Triggerpoints in connective tissue?
I posted a few topics where I had similar "trigger points." However, mine were along the inner thigh. I never received any feedback from my posts, but moved forward as each person experiences trigger points in a slightly different way. I treat them as trigger points but massage them in a different manner. Over the past year, the number and intensity have been reduced, but they have not been fully eliminated. I still have some work to do on the relaxation and stress management.
Search for some of my old posts and see if my description coincides with yours.
Thanks,

I have these EXACT symptoms. The tiny little hard "dots", just inside, under the skin and when you press them, they are VERY sharp feeling.Alphalifestyle wrote:Recently I started massaging my pelvic floor internally and externally every day. I also have that very very tender and sore tissue inside as well like you described.
You are not alone, I understand exactly what you are saying. I want to know also if these are considered trigger points. I'm guessing they are.

Re: Triggerpoints in connective tissue?
I had them too, under my thighs, absolutely excrutiating when pressed my PT said it was just 'tense muscle' but I felt she didn't make much of a deal of it. I massaged it out using a hard small ball and rolling forward and back on it repeatedly. It took about 2 months to rid me of it, but I still use the Theracane on the area occasionally as I think it will need to be maintained.

Re: Triggerpoints in connective tissue?
For me, using the Theracane or a lacrosse ball (small and dense) did nothing. It required almost a pinching technique to pop the "anomalies" under the skin. This worked along the inner thigh area. It has taken a couple of years to figure things out, but the number of them have been reduced and will continue to do so.

Re: Triggerpoints in connective tissue?
That's comforting to know, that I am not the only one with this more unusual expression of CPPS... its very interesting that you have BOTH, the little, painful grains around the anus and the tender, sore tissue inside the rectum. Seems to indicate that both symptoms are related, as we both share both symptoms.SteveMalk wrote:

Did you had any success with massaging? For me it feels like just lightly pressing and stretching the tender tissue is better than hard massage.

Re: Triggerpoints in connective tissue?
I can't speak as to the grains, but sore tissue within the rectum is common. I've had it, and worse. Many guys (myself included) have gone so far as to compare the sensation to open wounds.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!
Age: 26 Onset Age: 17 Symptoms: Shooting, nerve-like pains throughout the penis, which abruptly hit and leave. Testicular pain, perineum pain, burning/irritative urination, extended pain after ejaculation. Occasionally, some allodynia or ache in the coccyx/sacrum/thigh/buttocks/legs. Diagnosis: Pelvic floor dysfunction, degenerated lumbar disk, and mildly herniated lumbar disk. Helped By: Physical therapy, pain management doctor, hot baths, therapy pool, stretching regimen, breathing exercises, relaxation, distraction. Worsened By: Arousal/ejaculation (worst), constipation, panicking/obsessing, other triggers depend upon current symptoms. Tests/Prior Treatments: Too many antibiotics to count, multiple urine tests (all normal), testicular ultrasound (normal), bladder and renal ultrasound (normal), lumbar and pelvic MRI with and w/o contrast (revealed disk problems), Elavil 25mg (caused retention), Flomax 0.4mg.

Re: Triggerpoints in connective tissue?
So how should I go about treating the sore tissue? Should I carefully massage it, press it, rub it? I haven't really found triggerpoints in this sore tissue, only chunks or strains of hardened muscle tissue under it, but they don't hurt when touched.Jay wrote:I can't speak as to the grains, but sore tissue within the rectum is common. Erection leads to flare-up
I often have major flare ups after sex, with super irritated, sore feeling in the rectum, diarrhea, tensing of muscle in the pelvic and belly area, etc.
But sometimes even after just having a prolonged erection I experience a worsening of my condition with the same symptoms just on a smaller scale.
It seems like getting an erection irritated the tissue in my rectum or the already tense, sore muscles. Anybody else experiencing this?
