Hey peeps,

Just wanted to give a quick update of my condition. I no longer have "flares" but I do have some discomfort. Mainly in the testes and moves around. Feel like bruises at times in certain areas. I've been following my version of a Carl's protocol to a T. My Physio told me the fact that it's moving around is a good sign. I guess, muscle fibers are getting blood flow or whatever .... Anyway, yesterday when walking all of a sudden it felt like whenever the tip of my penis hit my jeans, it stung a bit (I wear boxers). This has never happened to me. I was thinking of maybe putting Vaseline on the tip if it happens again. Anyone ever try this?

The one thing I hate about this condition is back in the day I could masturbate 3 times a day get chaffed and not worry about my wang hurting. Now every little sensation gets my attention. So frustrating!

Hope all is well you guys.

PS. I started reading Dr Wise's new book. I'll let you know what I think but so far enjoyable.

I get this 'hypersensitivity' when walking. It can be in the testes or on the thighs due to the trousers rubbing against them.
I tried vaseline, before I went swimming as the chlorine would eat away at me. I found that my flute had to be very dry or it wouldn't stay on it and I found the more I rubbed the flute, i.e. applying anything, the more sensitivity this created.

I get an achy bruised feeling all over the legs regularly, I take it as things improving ... I hope I'm right!!

Be careful of being around chlorine. Search the forum for "chlorine".

I've been taking a bath every day after I shower for 15 min. Don't think there is chlorine in the water? Or is there?

There probably is, but I'm talking about public pools where the smell of chlorine hits you as you enter the pool enclosure. Keep well away from those.

Yesterday evening, I had my worst day in 2 plus months (was pretty low but managed to get get out of the funk quickly). I started to have achiness in my testes and left side of my penis. I started to explore and noticed in my inner thigh (close to my groin) there is a tendon or something that was tight and sore. Very tight. Even my ex felt it and told me it was tight compared to my right side. Could this be the referred pain causing this annoyance the last few weeks in my perineum and testes? BTW that annoyance was not even noticeable unless I touched it, except last night.

Also, I am thinking maybe 3 months of stretching 45 minutes every morning and 20 minutes at night may be too much? Maybe I pulled something. Could I be stretching too much? I don't want to think this a symptom of Male Pelvic Pain but more of a sports injury but whatever it is, it's not pleasant. Trying not to think of it as setback in my recovery cause I was doing so well for so long! Should I lay off stretching for a while or should I use my Theracane and work that area?

Do you live in Montreal? Just curious to know who your urologist is. He seems pretty open minded about the concept of pelvic myoneuropathy...

D_man, I had to lay off stretching so much, I was becoming obsessed with stretching and I was going to do damage to my hips I was stretching them so much. But i did find that the pain in the testes was caused by a muscle/tendon in the inner thigh that travels to the inner groin, again, one side was tighter than the other. I think that the tight muscle chokes and restricts the nerves and that this can refer pain into the testes as the muscle that was tight for me, travelled directly beside the scrotum, and due to this area being more sensitive than most areas in that region of the body, it could easily manifest this tension-caused pain
Instead of spending long bouts of time stretching, I stretch at regular intervals through the day. I did find that the intense stretching was good for me while I was very tense earlier on, but now my PT, physio and chiro can all see an improvement in me more and more in all domains, and what I didn't tell them is that what I have started doing lately is 'living' more and just spending less time treating this. I wait until I'm in discomfort before I treat it, if I can.

That tendon/muscle is exactly what I felt this weekend. I did some TP on it and it feels better today. Still tender though. I honestly think I blew everything out of proportion and created symptoms that were non existent. And if they were they weren't as bad as I thought. I have to not let things like that get in the way of my recovery.

Even though, I love my routine of doing stretching every morning, I think like you I have to lay off. I find doing a routine and having a set structure is becoming compulsive and not helping with the mental aspect of this condition. It's the last hurdle I am trying to get over, the constant attention I put on it on a daily basis. I wish there was an easy answer on how to train your mind into not thinking about our nether region but I guess, you have to just constantly say tons of positive affirmations so that they override the negative ones. It's a lot of work. But the more I'm dealing with my mental issues, the more I am beginning to realize that life doesn't have to be so hard and should be easy :P

That compulsivity and love of routine is a sign of an anxiety-spectrum disorder, like OCD. You may benefit from a SSRI like Lexapro, titrated up to 20-40mg/day.

Webslave,

I feel like I am at a point where my symptoms are 90% to 95% all in my head. I started thinking to myself, that when I go to PT there really isn't anything that hurts when she does internal. And she works me completely inside. Today, I had 3 episodes of flares, one after I "choked the chicken" An hour later, my right side of my shaft bothered me. Before doing it, I said to myself or thought briefly it’s going to hurt (been 4 days), then voila, pain. Then after I got off the phone with a friend discussing it, it was gone, then back 30 minutes later, then gone when I left the house to go for dinner with the ex.

I know in the beginning symptoms were real, but at this point I am wondering if I am causing them mentally. I think what is triggering this episode is that I feel I am close to the finish line, and pushing myself and now these setbacks this past weekend and today.

I remember, when I had an STD scare. My ex gf’s ex boyfriend called me told me she had stds. I took her and I to get tested right away and for 7 days I was in discomfort and all I could think about was my wang and the discomfort it was in. I got the tests back negative for both of us, and low and behold no more symptoms.

What's making me come to this realization was when reading some reviews on HITP, I came a across this review

http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-rev ... centReview

Could it be possible that my symptoms are just my anxiety? I mean how can flares come and go three times in a day within 2hours? I'm sure it’s not unheard of but maybe I do need some deeper counselling and a drug like Elavil to break the cycle?

I will speak to the guy who runs my pain management and ask him for some referrals.
What do you think? Thanks btw.

Yes, the brain is amazingly powerful and psychosomatic disorders are very real. Start experimenting with treatments for your brain. That may be the key to your case. You have L-theanine, Benzos, SSRIs, and even opioids. All affect our disorder in one way or another. Then there are the psych therapies, like CBT. You have a lot to try!

Will do and thanks. But is this normal to flare 3 times on and off in 2 hours? This seems a little crazy.

A Flare is usually something that lasts for days, even weeks. Sounds more like you are have migratory pains, or anxiety-mediated symptoms.
