Guys,

Fellow chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome sufferer here - bilateral (both sides) varicocele is what 3 different urologists thought my pain was from. Not one of them even mentioned chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and all said that the varicoceles were harmless. There is no doubt I had varicoceles - I could feel them after the doctor pointed them out. Finally, after an extended bout of pain, I went back to the third doctor to have surgery.

Had the surgery, wasn't that bad and was back at work within a few days. BUT - it didn't do ANYTHING for the pain. Seriously, two weeks after the surgery I had another bout of familiar chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome pain.

I wasn't even surprised - the pain from varicoceles (according to all three doctors) is a "mild annoyance" - not what I'd use to describe CPPS. The doctor was dumbfounded why the pain still existed and spent most of the time telling me that there was nothing wrong with me and suggested it was in my head.

Just my story but I don't think varicoceles are the cause - maybe they are the result of the CPPS. It is interesting though that I had bi-lateral varicoceles, which is only 5% of the cases.

I have one and I am still trying to figure out how, if at all, it is connected to my symptoms.

Most physicians have told me that it is likely not related to my symptoms and that they generally do not cause that type of pain. Varicoceles, I believe, do cause a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, and that is often intertwined with my other symptoms (pain in testicles which increases with walking).

It is my understanding that varicoceles are a result of poor circulation in the pelvis and that, because of that, many of the exercises/habits that relieve chronic pain can also relieve varicoceles.

Much of what I know I got from here: http://www.spryhealth.com/ebook/varicoc ... ocele.html

out of curiousity, does anyone else with these have upper abdominal tension in particular?
Age:24 | Onset Age:22 | Symptoms: Urgency and penile tip pain. Frequency at it worst. Reduced libido and functioning. | Helped By: Prostate massage. That's about it so far. Haven't thoroughly tried PT yet however. | Worsened By: Sitting. Perhaps stress and negative thoughts. Chiro, candida detox and standard treatments have not helped.
