Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me
Re: Do any of you guys have varicocele ????/
I had an ultrasound a while ago and they said I had that on my left testicle. It wasn't anything major according to the doctor.
Age:30 | Onset Age: 29 | Symptoms: Started with burning in the urethra. Thought it was an infection. Symptoms have spread and now shoot around. | Symptoms: Golf ball pain, burning around anus, scrotum pain, testicle pain. Pain eliminated by vacation but soon comes back as stress continues. | Helped By: Not sitting down too much, reducing stress (trying to), hot baths and relaxing. Pain was originally somewhere between 5 and 8 but is now calming down to about 3-5.
Re: Do any of you guys have varicocele ????/
I forget the exact page number - but if you look into last pages of HITP - there is a sentence that says the findings of varicocele are coincidental.

Re: Do any of you guys have varicocele ????/
I've seen in total about 5 urologists.
4 out of 5 identified a grade 2 varicocele on my left side and subclinical varicoceles on my right.
1 out of the four was very willing to do a varicolectomy while the others made the conclusion almost immediately that the kind of pain I was describing was not that of a varicoclele; specifically the increase in pain 24 hrs after ejaculation for a period of 4-5 days.

Age:37 | Onset Age: 35 | Symptoms: pain in testicles that comes and goes that also switches sides-trying to find a pattern as to "why" this happens/Rectal Burn at the 6 O'clock position at my anus which tends to flare around the periphery of my anus typically after defication but no perineum pain-no "golf ball" pain. Pain in testicles worsens as I sit but not always...Pain is not always present but depresses me. Pain used to be at a very high level but has subsided in time to a low level but has not gone away. Pain used to flare after sex but not as much as before although it still like playing russian roulette./
/Lack of SleepHelped By: I haven't found anything that has helped to my knowledge. Tried many many sessions of PT, accupuncture and chiropractic care but still have not found steady relief that takes me back to a pre CPPS state.

Re: Do any of you guys have varicocele ????/
I have a varicocele on the left testicle, diagnosed about two years ago, and now I think one may be developing on the right side. Periodically it causes some discomfort - and more so in the past few months - especially when sitting. Two urologists I saw said that surgery is an option but, many times, does not alleviate the pain and puts you at risk for various complications. So, unless there are fertility issues, I was told they recommend most guys just deal with it - if it's not posing a health risk - as it is very common. My concern is that since the discomfort has increased somewhat, and it appears that it is getting larger so I'm thinking I may need to consider the surgery option at some point in the next year.
Age: 35. Age of diagnosis: 33. | Symptoms: dull pain in testicles, usually the left side, dull pain in perineum, occasional 'golf ball in the rectum' feeling, general tension/tightness in the whole pelvic region, pain/discomfort after ejaculation. Helped by: acupuncture (slightly); exercise; stretching. Worsened by: ejaculating; alcohol, somewhat; anxiety & stress
Re: Do any of you guys have varicocele ????/
Yes, I've got one in my left testicle as well - had it for years now and is fairly big but doesn't cause any discomfort so I've not done anything about it - and probably won't unless it starts playing up.
Not medical advice: Read my progress to date : Read about my W-A clinic visit

Varicocele is linked with prostatitis symptoms. See study.

Don't panic, guys. It's one study, and it only seeks to point out that prostatitis symptoms are more common in men with varicocele. It doesn't say how or why, whether corrective measures are wise, or any of those important details. In general, these present no symptoms at all, but those which do can be surgically corrected.
It's your choice, of course, but I wouldn't be rushing for the knife over a study. If you benefit from PT, then chances are unlikely that it's the varicocele, anyhow. The two are completely unrelated.
