Cranberry juice

Post by papichullini »

Hi,

Till now, I always thought cranberry juice was "the drink" for this conditions. Since I went to a "walk-in" clinic and the nurse told me to drink cranberry juice that I would be fine, I started to take it. I also remember once that I bought fresh cranberries and I did a juice with the blender that I felt strangely really good the next days. For these two reasons I never questioned the cranberry juice, I was even looking for the fresh fruit, that is hard to find. However I'm seeing that because of its acidity, people on this forum don't recommend it but in the other way, tell to avoid it.
If cranberry juice is not good. Which do you think is the best drink to take for these condition? simple Water? why?

many thanks again,

Cranberry juice is useful for UTIs (urinary tract infections) because it prevents bacteria adhering to the bladder wall. This has nothing to do with CP/CPPS — in fact, the high acidity of cranberries can irritate the inflamed linings of bladders, prostates and urethras.

I dont drink any juices now, I believe it made my frequency worse because of the acid in them. I tend to just drink water or herbal teas these days, or if I want a cold day, a bit of cordial (not too much though!).

Drinking cranberry juice with this condition is like adding gas to a bonfire. I live off of filtered water and organic milk. You should definitely stay away from acidic foods and drinks.

Thanks guys!
I was like drinking cranberry juice every day... I think the best option for me is tea. Water normally gives me urgency... and frequency... :( when I'm in bad conditions specially...

I really would advise against drinking tea. I found tea a big problem with regards making my frequency worse. When I stopped drinking tea I noticed my frequency subside. I drink the following:

- water
- flavored water (not fizzy)
- rooibos (redbush) tea, naturally caffeine free and it has quercetin in it
- herbal teas such as fennel, echinacea, camomile. Fennel is good for relaxing the stomach, echinacea is supposed to boost the immune system and camomile is supposed to help soothe the bladder.

But I would stay away from tea (even green tea) and coffee.

Gary -just to clarify. You recommend staying away from caffeinated teas and sticking with herbal teas (no caffeine).

Tea in itself is not bad - just the ones with caffeine.

DO I understand correctly??

I find the herbal teas much more acceptable to me personally than tea. Anything without tea leaves in it basically, so normal tea, decaffinated tea, earl grey, green tea etc used to make my frequency worse. Herbal teas as long as they were not citrus fruit based seem to agree with me much better. Plus they can be drunk cold should you wish to have a cold drink instead :)

With regards the caffeine, it didn't make a difference for me personally if the tea was decaffinated or not, I still had more frequency. I am sure I read somewhere that tea by its nature does actually make the body want to urinate more often. Bit like alcohol.
