Now I know what you mean about Winter!

Post by JonP »

Over the last 5 months my condition had really been improving. On a good day I would have rated myself at perhaps 90% - 95% pain free and on a bad day perhaps around 75% - 80%. That has been a huge improvement compared to last year and the beginning of this year when I would have rated myself at between 30% - 50%.

I had been doing internal trigger point work, having warm baths and trying to reduce stress to get to that point. Making sure I had a daily walk also helped a lot.

I had actually got to the point where I had all but put my condition into the back of my mind - well, to to more precise, it was just another relatively minor health imperfection to have to work around - in other words not a big deal. That was until Winter struck

It got really cold down here in Australia this last couple of weeks and precisely at the same time my condition has badly deteriorated again. It isn't as bad as it was originally, but I put that down to understanding the problem better and having coping mechanisms in place. But this Winter is absolutely horrible.

For some reason it doesn't matter that indoors the temperature can be controlled with heating. Winter is Winter and the body seems to react differently to the same temperature in Winter than it does in Summer

Anyway, hopefully I will get through this without the pain and discomfort becoming debilitating

Hang in there Jon, I had the exact same experience when winter came around the Northern hemisphere- I backslid a bit. But now summer is here and I'm improving again. Don't let it get you down. chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is definitely a "two steps forward, one step back" kind of thing.
Age: 36 | Onset Age: 29 (Summer 2005) Main Symptoms (all intermittent): penile/anal/rectal/perineum pain/numbness/tingling/coldness, LUTS, ED | Helped By: duloxetine (Cymbalta), topical benzocaine, occasional benzodiazepines, hot weather, hot baths, understanding friends & family, pushing myself to be more sociable and active, psychotherapy (mostly CBT), diaphragmatic breathing, relaxation, meditation (concentration and mindfulness), adequate sleep | Worsened By: cold weather, stress, inadequate sleep, prolonged sitting or standing in place, walking uphill, heavy exercise, erection/ejaculation (sometimes)
Last But Not Least: I am not a medical/health professional of any kind. This is not medical advice.

I am sure that the cure to this thing consists of:

1. No work ever again
2. And endless supply of money
3. Living in a warm climate all year round
4. No stress, no worries, nothing, like peace and quiet.

I am sure given these "conditions for our bodies to heal" we would all be back to normal within a year or so.
Age: 33 | Onset Age: 32 Initial Symptoms: Frequent urination Current Symptoms: The odd feeling of frequency but not much else Helped By: Not thinking about it, hot bath, red wine, light exercise, Bowen technique seems to help, getting on with my life Worsened By: catastrophic thinking, worrying things will get worse, feeling depressed, reading websites too often! Work! Sitting in work all day isn't good!! Current Progress : Since 1st Sept 08, no pain!!! :)

I've had the same thought as well. If any of you know of an insurer who will cover the "spending-the-rest-of-my-life-on-the-beach-in-Rio Protocol," let me know! :)

Thanks for all the replies. I think I should move to the far North of Queensland - much warmer than down here! But yes, I was going wonderfully in late Summer and through Autumn. I'm actually feeling a bit better having started to do TP therapy every day (rather than a couple of times week - which is all I ever needed during the warmer weather).

Maybe I should try the any accredited quercetin product too. I've been taking the any accredited quercetin product once a day (any more than that makes no diference). From what I have read here it is even better, so it might help during these cold months.

Actually don't we only need points 2 and 3? If I had an endless supply of money, I would stop working. Plus for me, and endless supply of money would probably reduce life's stresses by about 90% - no kidding. Most of my deep seated anxieties are about money - I am sure of it.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

What do you say about someone like me who is in greater pain when it is warm and it is ever worse in 90+ degree weather we are now having. I long for the cold winter day and being outside and having the pain reduce greatly. Hot showers and baths and hot tubs are very painful. I am such a misfit that I can't even get a syndrome right
I HAVE NO MEDICAL TRAINING JUST CPPS
