I'm in hell, ever since having Prostatitis 2 years ago. I suffer from strange bouts of lower back pain and stiffness....
The latest??? A terribly pinched Sciatic nerve, which has now gone into the 3rd month. I am almost completely disabled from it, the pain is so intense, in left buttock, and all the way down my left leg, including my left foot getting numb....COULD THIS HAVE ALSO BEEN CAUSED BY MY PROSTATE??
My doctor has x-rayed, found nothing, gave me anti-inflammatories. Still not recovering from it yet. My Chiropractor thinks it may be from the pelvic muscles which are so tight and spasmed, that they, along with an inflamed disc, or pinching the nerve...
If anyone has any input or advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
3 Months of sciatica!!.....is it from my Prostatitis???

yehyoh,
Here is an excellent article about myofascial pain:
http://ucpps.men/1/
(2nd item down ... sorry, direct linking not available to this paper)
which may be a good starting point for you. (Note: you must have Acrobat PDF reader installed).
Also: http://www.amta.com.au/article2.html
A chronic pain specialist who treats myofascial pain may identify myofascial trigger-points in your back muscles (paraspinals, quadratus lumborum) and pelvic-area muscles (obturator, pectinues, levator ani, piriformis, adductors). Perhaps some of your pain is referred from those trigger points.
How about the reverse: could some of your back/pelvic floor muscles caused symptoms of your "prostatitis?"COULD THIS HAVE ALSO BEEN CAUSED BY MY PROSTATE??

Did you have a plain X-ray, or an MRI or CT-Meylogram? And did you see a neurologist (for possible disc herniation at L4-L5)?My doctor has x-rayed, found nothing

Thank you for your reply. I looked at the articles. Very interesting, but not easy reading! Yes, I guess you can wonder which causes which. Does having a pelvic muscle problem bring symptoms of Prostatitis?? Or the other way around? Either way, I have not liked my life very much ever since this all started!
My doctor had just taken regular x-rays, no MRI.
I'm now trying certain yoga stretching techniques given to me by the chiropractor, in the hope that it will help.
I am still wondering also if other sufferers have had the sciatic nerve problem as well.

Yehyoh,
If your foot is numb and you have pain down your leg, you really should see a neurologist, who can order an MRI, EMG, and nerve conduction study (IMO).
Even if unrelated to your prostate, pain breeds more pain -- regardless of location. If you do have a pinched nerve, there are treatment options including physical therapy. I know. I've been there!
