Epididymitis and Pelvic Pain after Vaccine

Post by Lucas24 »

I've had interstitial cystitis for about 5 years now. I wasn't officially diagnosed until early 2019 with IC and CPPS. It took a long time to find a urologist who look at my symptoms correctly and perform a cystoscopy with hydrodistension to diagnose me. Year later I've been able to manage my IC and pelvic pain with Aloe Vera, magnesium, and antihistamines. It took me a long time to figure out how to manage these issues and I lived a pretty normal life until the last few months.

April 16th 2021 I got my first Moderna shot and exactly 2 weeks later I experienced severe right testicle pain. I went to the emergency room to rule out a torsion and the doctor told me nothing was wrong I likely strained myself. The pain went away after a few days. May 14th I got the second dose and exactly 2 weeks later the right testicle pain returned but this time it didn't go away and only got worse moving into my inguinal region. The pain was only on the right side and would shoot into my lower right abdomen and right leg. During this time a small lump appeared on the right side of my groin almost exactly where a hernia would appear. Again, I went to the ER and got blood tests, CT w contrast, and ultra sound which turned up nothing. I went to my urologist who diagnosed me with IC and June 4th a few days after the ER. He off the bat recognized my right testicle pain and swollen epididymis as epididymitis. This made sense since the day all the started I was doing heavy lifting while also holding my bladder which he said caused urine reflux and a subsequent infection of my epididymis.

I never tested positive for any Bactria or STD during the course of all this happening which two urologist have told me is normal since apparently the infection hides in tissue. My urologist sent me home on 100mg doxy twice a day for 10 days. After 5 days I felt like a new man I was back to working out and living a normal life. But 7 days into taking the doxy the testicle pain returned. Again, it felt like my epididymis was on fire and somebody was squeezing my right testicle. It took me awhile to contact my urologist and after finishing the doxy he put me on Cipro 500mg 2x a day for 7 days. The Cipro didn't fix the issue but it at least eased my testicle pain for a few days. But the burning/stabbing pain in the inguinal region never went away.

June 25th I went back to the urologist. He check me out again and said I had unusually swelling/fluid on the right side of my scrotum. He ordered another ultra sound to give it a look which turned up nothing and he put me on nitrofurtoin for 10 days to try and clear things out. The nitrofurtoin didn't help and my urologist mentioned to me before I left that it might be my appendix causing these issues. So on June 30th I went to the ER again in a different city. CT w contrast, STD check, blood work, and another ultrasound. The doctor told me I had fluid and swelling on the right side but nothing appeared on the ultra sound. After no answers from the ER I sent my scans to a friend of my family who is a general surgeon. He told me I had a bowel blockage in my secum and this was likely what is causing my pain by pushing on my nerves. This was false because after drinking tons of laxatives I met with another surgeon the following week who told me it wasn't a blockage just a large amount of stool and not a blockage that was stopping anything or needed to be addressed.

I finished the nitrofurtoin because at least while I was on the antibiotic the pain wasn't as bad. But 48 hours after I was done with the antibiotic the testicle pain returned and for about 3 days it felt like my right testicle and inguinal canal was on fire again. My symptoms just got worse as the days went on and eventually moved into my left inguinal/cord region. I went the the ER on July 18th in so much pain they told me I was on the verge of a stroke and I'm 24 years old. Both of my cords were on fire and my testicle were painful to the touch. They didn't know what to tell me and sent me home with oxycodone and toradol. The surgeon I saw referred me to another urologist who ironically was a student of my usually urologist. I saw him July 21st. He told me that likely the infection was deeply rooted and I needed to be on doxy for 4 weeks to clear out the infection since doxy worked the first time And that I just got a secondary infection. I'm five days into the doxy now and my testicle pain has improved but my bladder pain is through the roof and hasn't gone away for 3 days now. It's the usually IC bladder pain but it doesn't respond to antihistamines or pain medication like it has for the past few years.

The only way I can sleep is by taking the oxycodone which I'm making sparse because I know once I run out I won't sleep or will wake up several times a night in pain. I messaged my urologist who told me I need another cysto w hydrodistension and that likely my IC is the whole cause of this. But like I've told every doctor I've seen this pain isn't similar to the IC I've had for years and it doesn't respond similar at all. This pain is in my inguinal region and only on the right side up until I was off antibiotic for a few days. I've had dysuria the entire time which is worse when the testicle/inguinal pain is worse.

I'm really not sure what the next step is. I'm hoping that maybe the antibiotics are just making my bladder hurt and are treating the infection. If I go back the urologist he will likely tell me he doesn't know and want to preform surgery which was hell last time I went through it. That is if I can even get into to see him which is a pain in the ass. I'm on the verge of dropping out of law school because I start 1L in a few weeks and I can't even leave the apartment my pain is so bad. I worked my whole life to make it this far and get scholarships but it looks like that is coming to an end. My friends and family are starting to believe more everyday that the vaccine caused this since the doctors seem to have no answers for me. If that is the case it's fucked up they would do this to people. I'm desperate for answers at this point. It was hard enough coping with IC and CPPS but this is another level.
