Can pool chemicals flare prostatitis?

Post by searchinforsolutions »

So a little background on me. 32 years old and have been dealing with pain in my groin since December '19. Went to the general doctor in February, he did blood tests and urine tests, everything came back clean. He said I might have cystitis and gave me Doxycycline. Took the first pill and within an hour pain in my groin was gone. I took that for 7 days and then I was good.

Then I got pain again in on May 15. In the mornings I would wake up without an erection. Saw the urologist June 15, she sent me to get an MRI on the 17th and then the MRI showed that I had prostatitis. She gave Doxycycline for 28 days and I picked up the pills yesterday. Took the first pill and felt relief. Then before I went to sleep took another pill.

I woke up this morning at 6 and had two erections, which let me know that the antibiotic was working. At around 9am went into a jacuzzi and pool and I noticed a tingling feeling at the base of my penis. When I went back to my room I got pain in my groin again, with sharp pain at the base of my penis and tenderness in my urethra at the base of my penis. Is it possible for chemicals that are in a jacuzzi and pool to re-irritate prostatitis? Because I felt great this morning, but now after I got in the jacuzzi and pool I have pain again and it's frustrating. Any advice would be appreciated.

There are cases of people reporting their UCPPS beginning after a big exposure to chlorine in pools. Was the smell very noticeable? If yes, then it can cause a flare. Chlorine is a nasty chemical. Avoid it.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I did not notice the smell when getting in. But now that this happened I won't be getting in a pool or jacuzzi until I see my urologist.
