Alex from Greece

Post by alexpower88 »

Hi everyone,

My name is Alex I am Greek and the past 2. 5 years I have been living in Sydney-Australia. My issue started back in 2010 with acute prostatitis that eventually developed to chronic prostatitis as I was doing holidays and I did not treat it properly.

I will try to be as succinct as possible.

In 2011 I was diagnosed with Chronic Prostatitis officially in Greece. My symptoms were urgency, frequency and sensitivity in the area of the bladder (a filling that the bladder is never empty etc) nothing else (no pain or anything of the kind that would suggest chronic pelvic pain syndrome) and till today I have the same problem. I did Stamey-Meares (4 glass test) and the cultivation was positive at that time with Enterococcus faecalis and Corynebacterium glucuronolyticum. I took antibiotics, saw an improvement and after a while I relapsed again. From that time forward I have taken tons of antibiotics (quinolones, amoxicillin etc. everything that exists, different brands and everything) they were helping only for a short period of time especially in the early years and moving forward they stopped improving my symptoms. I have tried saw palmetto pills-no improvement, Bedmiga and other incontinence pills A-blockers etc no improvement at all. I have done acupuncture-nothing, Pelvic floor exercise and internal pelvic floor therapy-nothing. Kegel exercises-nothing, biosyntonie-nothing, careful diet-nothing. I had tried pretty much everything..

I will make a important parenthesis here; There was a doctor in Greece (similar to Feliciano in Philippines) that was doing exclusively prostate drainage. I won't say his name as I do not recommend. Most of the people would say that he is fraud and I would say the same not because I believe the drainage is not useful but because the actual doctor was treating all the patients in a degrading way and saw us as money. Also, although he was supposed to be an expert I realised after years that he was not doing the drainage properly. I did see a significant improvement though in all aspects while I was doing the drainage.

Last year on May 2019 I went back to Greece to devote some time searching more thoroughly all the options I had. Because the situation was helpless, I started doing all the examinations possible so I could narrow down to what was the cause creating this situation. I did cystoscopy which was negative (everything was clear), cystomanometry (again the indication was that the system is working properly, ultrasounds etc.). Everything was negative and all the organs were 100% in great shape. The only thing that was found was in my prostate fluid a bacteria called Klebsiella Pneumoniae but not in a high population (through Stamey-Meares procedure). After all those tests and examinations, the indication was that the issue could have to do with the prostate hence the bacteria that were appearing once in a while in the cultivations I was doing periodically (sometimes they were negative sometimes positive) and so we agreed with the doctor in Greece to try some prostate massage or drainage and although he said that probably would not help (but nothing to lose) guess what? I saw again great improvement. This happened gradually. We started with 3 treatments per week and reduced it to 2-1 treatments per week combined with antibiotics. The doctor was pressing for around 3 minutes and fluid was coming out (expressed prostatic secretion). In the first treatments the fluid was thicker and darker in colour and moving forward was becoming clearer (I am writing all that I think there is a lot of unmapped area with this treatment) After the second weekend, I stopped waking up at the night to urinate. In general, I saw a great improvement in all aspects which I had never seen before. Then I returned back to Australia in November 2019 and I relapsed again not as bad as on May 2019 (in May it was Martyrdom) but still, I have this irritating urgency and as a result frequency (the very positive thing is that the sensitivity in the bladder area left).

And now is the predicament, if I was living in Greece I could probably continue doing the treatment and maintain a stable lifestyle but I am living in Sydney. The burning question is, DO YOU KNOW ANYONE DOING THIS TREATMENT in Sydney? I contacted two urologists here and neither is doing the drainage. I am trying now through the Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist but she told me that she is not trained and is out of her scope. In general I can't find anyone knowing about who is doing the Stamey-Meares examination which the prostate pressure part is exactly the same. I tried to contact different physiotherapists but the same story although the Internal Pelvic Floor treatment is pretty much the same with the prostate drainage where instead of pressing the pelvic muscles that surround the prostate; you press firmly the actual prostate.

I strongly believe that this is the solution to my condition and probably needs a long term treatment as it is a "chronic" condition. At the end of the day I would be willing to do it in an ongoing basis if that is the way to keep maintenance of the issue.

This condition has turned my life into a nightmare for a long time now as I wake up 1-4 times per night and constantly, I need to find a toilet during the day to urinate.

It is such a pity to know the treatment that helps my condition and actually not being able to find anyone to apply it. If you know anything please let me know..

Thank you in Advance!

It's extremely unlikely that the "drainage" is what's helping you. The levator insertions are directly behind the prostate, and they are very problematic in many men. Being in Sydney where help is hard to find, I advise you to buy a Theracane or Therawand (I recommend the Theracane because it's capable of deeper massage and more comfortable to use, although others disagree) for prostate massage. Go easy with it, don't "mash" the prostate. Just hold a gentle pressure on it for 90 seconds.

I remember there have been some members in the group who got rid of frequency problems especially after stretching the abs. Somehow tight abs seem to be mostly related to urgency/frequency in the group. But maybe the sample size is to small. Anyway I am with Mark here that you feel better because indirectly pressure on muscles was supplied.

What was your stretching routine like BTW? Because you won't be better after 3 months. This is hard work.

edit: And please edit your signature.

Hi again guys,

I edit my signature and I hope it looks fine. Thanks for the replies.

Although I am considering your points (and it could be true) that while doing prostate massage the surrounding muscles were indirectly pressed hence the improvement but then why I did not see any improvement when I was doing pelvic internal treatment where the physiotherapist was directly pressing the pelvic muscles and not the prostate at all (is a rhetorical question)?

Again if the prostate is not the problem why to bother pressing the prostate with a wand and instead only the pelvic muscles? To be honest I do not really know myself and from what I have understood from all these years visiting multiple urologists and other alternative therapists no one really knows. What I know for certain is that after two weeks I started the prostate massage (the urologist was pressing firmly and straight away fluid was coming out and reach pretty well most of the back area of the prostate) I stopped waking up in the night without changing anything else in my diet, psychology, exercise etc. Also, I found it really interesting the fact that this dude Ron from the was able to be almost asymptomatic by doing it himself for two years (although this guy had more like chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms) [link to junk info site removed]

Anyway the good news are that I was able to find a physiotherapist that is doing prostate massage and will see how it goes in the long term. I am not taking any antibiotics at the moment. At the same time, I am doing some relaxation technics especially when I have the urgency (he is a men's health therapist) Furthermore, I am intending of taking the fluid that comes out for examination to see if a bacteria will show up again.

Regardless though (if it is the actual prostate massage or the indirect pressure in the levator muscle) if this is what can give me relief and live a normal life I am more than willing to do it even for the rest of my life (although I am hoping I won't need to after a point).

Also, I came to realise that many urologists or pathologists they do not know how to do the prostate drainage correctly pressing firmly in all possible sides so fluid can come out.

*NeoCortex 88: Concerning your question about the abs, while I was doing the pelvic internal treatment, at the same time at my home I was spending more than an hour per day doing relaxation breathing exercises for the pelvic muscles and additionally with a spiky ball all the area of my abs from bottom to top- I did not see an improvement of more than 5%.

If telling yourself that it is pressure on the prostate that makes you feel better, rather than what I am telling you (pressure on muscles), then by all means feel free to adhere to that viewpoint.

Just to get a little bit more in detail about the Pelvic floor internal treatment I did for a couple of months; The physiotherapist was pressing all the surrounding muscles from the rectum and at the same time I had to inhale and exhale according to therapist's instructions. Unfortunately at that point only with the pelvic treatment, I did not see any significant improvement. At the end of the day whatever it works, it works. The current men's health physiotherapist told me that the combination of prostate massage and pelvic floor exercises (trying to retrain the muscles and change the habit of the urgency by delaying it with some techniques) might be the solution for me and I agreed with this viewpoint. In any case, time will tell; my aim is to set the issue under permanent control and in the longterm to be completely cured. I hoping!

Concerning "Ron's" story, this guy probably was one of the first people that tried to make prostate massage to himself in a time that wands did not even exist. Of course, again I could agree with the Admin that he was pressing accidentally the muscles around the prostate and that is why he saw improvement. It would be interesting to read an update of his story (his last update was in 2003) but I think it is quite difficult after 17 years..

Sure. It does not matter what one thinks is happening, prostate or muscles. The end effect is the same. BTW, physiotherapists know nothing about CPPS.
Concerning "Ron's" story, this guy probably was one of the first people that tried to make prostate massage to himself in a time that wands did not even exist.
"Ron" wrote that stuff back in 1996, whereas I used a wand to relieve pain in my muscles back in 1991-2. I also thought I was massaging my prostate. You can see my story in my signature (link). There never was a flow of prostate secretions or "drainage" for me, and yet the improvement was the same.

The entire theory of "blocked acini" that need to be "drained" of "infections" is simply bullshit. There is no science behind it.

It's true that when the prostate becomes inflamed, as it does sometimes in CPPS due to nerve crosstalk, the ducts can swell closed and some secretions can become trapped or "sequestered", and that can be irritating because the secretions contain WBCs. This is why the first week or so of any accredited quercetin product and/or any accredited quercetin product often results in a sudden yellow semen episode as it decreases prostate inflammation and opens the ducts, allowing those secretions to escape. Are you taking Quercetin? Or any other form of quercetin? You should be.

. Any accredited quercetin product is a much better, safer way of getting those irritating secretions out than pummeling the gland with a wand.

But in the end, once those trapped secretions are out (if you have them, some men do not), which happens fairly quickly, the underlying issues that caused the problem have to be treated, or it will simply recur.

So you are back to looking at muscle spasm, psychological stress, food allergy and irritants (alcohol, gluten) etc

Hello Alex and thanks for your posts. I am also in Sydney and have symptoms remarkably similar to yours with the major (only ) component now being frequency and awareness of the bladder which, at its worst, disturbs sleep. Occasionally some stinging penis tip and on ejaculation. I tried internal PT with therapist; exhaling and inhaling etc. But for me I can't say it really did much. I am just wondering have you found a good therapist in Sydney for the so called "prostate massage" or any others you can recommend? Or any other tips you found useful for your situation?
Thanks
