Hi there,
is the Therawand fool proof or can I hurt myself seriously?
Thanks
Therawand: can you hurt yourself?
Therawand: can you hurt yourself?
Age: 41 Onset Age: 14, 22 got really bad
Symptoms: pain and discomfort perineum, a little bit while sitting in the right half of the scrotum. Sometimes dual stream while urinating. While ejaculating, not all shoots outside, some stays and flows outside with time (Without medication very painful).
Diagnosis: have seen several urologists in my life, have done any possible and pain creating diagnosis could not help me ever. Life was hopeful after googling the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol in early 2008, then every ache started making sense./ Hemorrhoids: they stress my prostate when I have a Hemorrhoid flare!
Helped By: Physical therapy, keeping myself warm, hatha yoga, stretching, walking, relaxation, distraction, Tadalafil 5 mg
Worsened By: Constipation, Fear or OCD "flare up", sitting and not doing any kind of "motion", too much tension in media or life, caffeine and acidy food
Prior Treatments: Antibiotics, Tamsulosin, Lyrica, Gabapentin, Tylenol

Yes, in theory you can hurt yourself. Go slowly and apply gentle pressure. Do not use excessive force.
That said, I have not heard of any injuries yet

What benefits has the wand towards the finger?

The wand can access areas the finger cannot, and the wand can exert more force than a finger.

Re: Therawand: can you hurt yourself?
I think I pushed on some spots a little too hard before and had a slight bit of blood on my wand.
Age: 25 | Onset Age: 21 | Symptoms: Pain in perineum area, bad ED, slower stream, loss of libido, | Helped By: Uroxatral, Heavy Doses of NSAIDs, Really Hot Baths/Sauna | Worsened By: Sex, Masturbation, Spicy Foods, biking, certain exercises, sudafed| Other comments: Mine started in a time after copious amounts of sex, I also held in ejaculation for a long long time after a sex break which may have contributed. Also went from protected to unprotected sex around this same time, but all tests show no bacteria. I do not have urgency issues.
Re: Therawand: can you hurt yourself?
In the manual it says:
Do not insert past the first curve of the S shape. Can you show me on a picture until which point you can insert?
I cannot see what I am doing while I am using the wand so as a sufferer of OCD I am scared that I insert it too far. Is the "TheraWand" symbol on the wand the point of where you should not go deeper? Or can I just insert as far as it goes in comfortably and it stops "naturally".
Thank you for your help.
PS: here I try to show on a picture that you either should go to A or can go to B or even the "symbol".

Re: Therawand: can you hurt yourself?
My other problem at the moment:
As I said, I am a sufferer of OCD when it is about my health. At the moment, my OCD is flaring up since all this "internal" treatment creates some fear that I could hurt myself. On the other hand I know, that if I do not treat myself, I have little change to get better. I am no student any longer (as last time I had CPPS) and cannot have extensive relaxation for long term and wait for my CPPS to go away. Also, alpha blockers stopped working for me.
I went to my physical therapist and asked her to teach me using the TheraWand. It went all right, just my fear that I may have inserted it too far inside (see above). But then she wanted to help me to clean things up and used alcohol "Sterillium" to sterilize my TheraWand.
The manual says:
"Do not use alcohol or harsh chemicals on the Therawand® or you may scratch the surface. "
My OCD "says": All right, now the surface of the Wand is scratched. Scratches in the acrylic glass can hurt my anus/intestines like knifes. I am sorry, to bother you with my fears, but this is exactly what triggers my OCD...something hurting my body.
Should I replace the wand even if I cannot see or feel the scratches? I am just scared and do not want to go into a loop of thinking and rethinking if I hurt myself. I am constantly trying to find out why, if I believe what I am fearing, I cannot just order a new one but try to find out if it makes sense.
Prozac is at its limit with me.

Re: Therawand: can you hurt yourself?
If you use an alcohol cleanser extensively, that means many times, on an acrylic object like this wand, you will cause small surface cracks. If you cannot see those cracks then good, they have not happened yet. If the surface still feels smooth, then the wand is still perfectly fine to use.
Insert as far as feels comfortable. There is no exact "spot" that marks the maximum insertion point.
As to your earlier observations: blood on the wand suggests internal hemorrhoids.
