Pain relief via mind altering substances?

Post by CMT23 »

So after 22 years or so I have seen all the standard people and had all the standard tests. Everything always 'normal' in every way.

I've tried just about every supplement out there related to urinary / prostate health.

I've done countless alternatives therapies - things like meditation, deep tissue massage, specific massage on stomach muscles, specific massage on stomach and penis/testicles, acupuncture (x50+ sessions), counselling, Reiki, Craniosacral, ultrasound, infrared dome, TENS, rectal heat probe, and more I'm sure.

I've gone the trigger point / muscle tension route doing Dr. Wise protocol for over a year and then the resistance stretching program for at least 4 months.

I've tried every medication listed on this forum - all the antidepressants, smooth muscle relaxants, pain killers, benzos.

Nothing has cured me. Only Benzos bring some form of temporary relief.

So there are two possible conclusions:
1. The problem can be resolved with one of the above drugs, supplements or healing modalities, but I didn't take the correct dose / didn't give the healing modality enough time.

2. The problem is totally unrelated to any of the above.

More and more I am leaning towards the latter. If this is the case, then what else is left to do???

I've been reading more about guys with PTSD having amazing personality and pain resets after undergoing a few long psychotherapy sessions with MDMA. I also see a lot of people having positive results with Ketamine infusions. So I'm beginning to wonder if the solution in my case anyway lies in my mind and if so, if the way to access that is through a mind altering substance with some professional guidance.

Has anyone gone this route and if so, anything to report back?
Age: 39 | Onset Age: 17 | Symptoms: Constant feeling of needing to urinate felt in the tip of penis. Frequency. Urgency. None of the typical pain associated with CPPS. | Helped By: Valium, Klonopin, and very hot baths, followed by lying down still/doing relaxation. Also made almost symptom free for a few seconds following a bowel movement. | Worsened By: stress, anxiety, skipping meals, lack of sleep, extended sitting, coffee, alcohol. NO other pain or discomfort although after ejaculation symptoms will usually get worse unless I lie still for 20 minutes or so. | Other comments: Symptoms began at the moment of ejaculation, disappeared after a few months and then returned a few months later and have not gone away since.

Old post but in case people join and search for this I figure I'd chime in.

Psychedelics (which include psilocibin aka mushrooms, LSD and MDMA) tend to make the physical problems worse for me. Before I had any issues I noticed I urinated more frequently while under the influence but felt fine once things wore off. I suspect if you have a problem down there the frequency might exacerbate issues which is what has happened to me.

However, the single best thing I have ever done for depression/anxiety was try psychedelics. In one session it basically flipped a switch and did more then 12 various antidepressants, 2 psychiatrists, 4 therapists and 2 primary doctors had been unable to do. I actually use a therapist now who supports 'integration therapy' although she can't legally encourage me to partake.

But that stuff is over until (or if at all) I am months of being symptom free.

I tried Ketamine infusions back in August of 2019. I did the chronic pain protocol: 4hours infusion during three consecutive days. It was really challenging, as the high dose puts you in the so called K-hole, which is awful, I think I experienced the NDE (near death experience)... However, I saw no improvement whatsoever in my CPPS symptoms. I did notice the strong antidepressant effect of Ketamine though, which lasted about a week. After that, I tried microdosing shrooms, but even small doses would give me somatic anxiety (palpitations, sweating, etc.) Now I've gotten a hold of another strain of shrooms which give me less bad side effects, and I am considering giving psilocybin another try.
Age: 39 | Onset Age: Urinary symptoms since 34, testicular pain/chronic epididymitis since 30 | Symptoms: Hesitancy, disuria, nocturia, right testicular pain, right leg pain, pins and needles in scrotum, perinneal pain (less frequent) | Helped By: Probably hot weather, sitz baths, gabapentin | Worsened By: Ejaculation | Other comments:

Hi @eltenso, nearly two years down the line now - did you ever re-try microdosing of shrooms i.e. psilocybin with your different strain of mushrooms?
Age: 31| Onset Age: 27 | Symptoms: Serious pain in left pelvic floor muscles, sometimes referred to right side, urinary urgency and frequency, some shooting pain in urethra, depression - but not clinical depression as per my docs, just understandable low mood due to the CPPS (previously also shooting pain in linked leg muscles, worse pain in urethra, split stream) | Helped By: PT (though current flare is not yet being helped by PT or therawand work), sauna, stretching (again in the past but not at the moment), meditation & deep breathing (maybe helping?)| Worsened By: Sitting, stress, working out, currently even walking fast, tiredness, overthinking/obsessive thoughts and worrying | Other comments: Also on a bit of a cocktail of meds: Clonazepam 3mg (a benzo), duloxetine 60mg, amitryptaline 20mg, mirtazapine 15mg (this is all under the supervision of a psychiatrist and more to do with my past CFS, though now transitioning into focusing back on the CPPS hence the amitriptyline and duloxetine)
