Need help/advice?

Post by geeza »

Hi, I’m a new member and would like to share what I've been going through and ask for your opinions/help. Many thanks in advance for any help and advice.

I’m 38 years old, healthy, appendicitis age 6, mild Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) for the past 7 years.

Late June, I first developed frequent urination/ urge to urinate.
Doctor did a simple urine test - all clear.
Given some Chinese medicine.

Frequent urination/urge to urinate continued but developed dull pain in testicles, penis, low ab area above penis, groin, and felt I was subconsciously tensing muscles in my anus area.

2nd doctors visit - given 3 days of antibiotics and told to return to see the listing urologist. Diagnosis - prostatitis.

Symptoms continued, testicle pain eased up, felt now I was teasing muscles is the area behind my penis subconsciously.

Visited a Chiro, he said I have tight muscles in my lower ab.

3rd visit urologist did a PSA gets and took a urine sample for a culture test. Given five more days on the same antibiotic. Diagnosis - maybe UTI

Trainer and my gym said that I have tight hip, groin, hamstrings.

4th Visit -Culture and PSA test ok, told to take a tablet for the prostate.

5th visit (early August) - Given 5 days of a different antibiotic

And that's where I am today- frequent urination/urge to urinate, sore urethra, pain in my penis and behind into my abdomen. Doctor now wants to send me to another urologist.

I stumbled upon the Headache in the Pelvis stretches online and have been doing the stretches, some of my ab pain has dulled but the urination and penis pain is still there all day everyday. Could all this be due to my pelvis? I'm losing my mind over this.

My doctor and urologist haven't mentioned pelvic muscles once as an option. I live in rural Japan so my options for docs are super limited.

Many thanks in advice for any help.

My opinion? - I believe that it is. My issues are very similar, especially the urge to urinate all the time. Don't lose your mind, it will only make things worse. It's easy to let your mind make you crazy over it but it will not help.
Age: 52 | Onset Age:49 (but I may have had warning signs 25 yrs earlier)| Symptoms: Pretty much all the usual suspects. Frequency, urgency, inability to always empty, burning and numbing uretheral, penile & perineum pain. Frequent urination at night.| Helped By: Internal PT. Myrbetriq helps but is by no means great. TENS to help sleep, and hand held massages of the lower back, hips and buttocks. Standing and physical labor help. Stretches and hot baths. Occasionally use gel iced pad on the perineum. Worsened By: Sitting (being sedentary), driving, sex, bowel movements, tight clothing and underwear. | Other comments: Currently trying L-Theanine

This is the main problem in my opinion "Generalized Anxiety Disorder (Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)) for the past 7 years." As Dr. Wise has stated in his books and podcasts, anxiety is just a fancy word for fear. When a person is in a constant state of fear their fight, flight, freeze mechanism is constantly on. This will tense muscles (especially the pelvis just like a dog pulling their tail between their legs) and generally throw the entire body into an unbalanced mess. Try meditation, or grab one of Eckhart Tolle's books about "living in the now" as opposed to reliving past traumas or worrying about possible future events.
Age: 39 | Onset Age: 39 | Symptoms: - Onset: testicular pain, severe penis tip pain, perineum pain, pain after bowel movements, pain for days after ejaculation, pain after urination, intermittent weak urine stream, intermittent urine spraying, tail bone pain, pelvic ache, low back, thigh, and hip pain, ED, severe premature ejaculation. Currently : Pain after bowel movements and ejaculation, perineum pain, intermittent weak urine stream, intermittent urine spraying, tail bone pain, pelvic ache, low back, thigh, and hip pain mild sexual performance issues. Helped By: Heat on sore areas, laying down, PT, stretching. | Worsened By: sex, stress, bowel movements, any kind of moderate exercise or strenuous activity.

Useless Visit to Orthopedic today

Post by geeza »

Hi, I posted last week my story so far with my symptoms and visits to the doctors.

Currently I have frequented urgency, pain behind and above my penis, and sometimes pain around my pelvis. Things have definitely changed since I first had problems. Today I decided to see an orthopedic doctor today and what a waste. He wouldn't even consider that my pain could be from pelvic muscles. He and the nurse were saying my intestines could have moved and that my urination problems were from my bladder.

Finding a open minded updated PT specialist is gonna be hard for me in rural Japan. Ahhhh

Living in Japan, my advice to you is to use urologists only to rule out infection and stricture, then move on to physical therapists.

Update

Hi

Many thanks in advance for any help or advice.

About a month ago I started symptoms that have change and evolved until now.

I first had frequent urination, the pain in my testicles, penis urethra and lower abdomen.

Doctor put me on 3 days of antibiotics while I waited for a simple urine test and blood test.

Everything came back negative. He then put me on another 5 days. While I waited to see a urologist.

Abdomen pain eased off when I saw the urologist. He gave me a urine culture which came back negative.

Now my symptoms are constant pain at base of penis. Sore urethra, frequent urination.

I’ve been doing stretches, thinking it could be CPPS.

I do feel myself tensing my muscles sometimes in my front and back pelvis area and have to remind myself to relax, I’m not sure how long I have been doing this but I think only after I first developed the symptoms

Any help guys? It’s driving me up the wall.

Many thanks

Often happens, usually because the uro performs a DRE that gives the internal pelvic muscles their very first massage. Relief can be dramatic for a few days.

More likely it's been happening subconsciously for a very long time.

Well, you need to do some reading here, but you can start with Carl's list:

Geeza I have the exact same symptoms as you. It has taken me a long time to figure out this complex problem. I’ll tell you what has helped me to take away the pain and tension. First like webslave said it’s important that you use the doctor to rule out stuff.

Frequent urination: what helped me with this is changing my diet completely with going gluten free and dairy free. Many acidic foods caused these problems for me. If I eat bread or any thing with dairy I start to burn and have to pee all day. I basically had to experiment and see the different foods that was hurting me. Took months !! Stay away from anything acidic like soda, coffee, alcohol, carbonated beverages, tomatoes, chocolate, even almonds and cranberries burned the hell out of me. Keep a food journal and see if you see a shift in pain. Also using quercetin any accredited quercetin product and keeping hydrated helped with stopping the burning and frequency. Eating alkaline foods helped tremendously. Try it out and see.

Testicle pain: the key to take away my testicle pain was using a Therawand and doing trigger point to the pelvic floor muscles. I would press on the 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock and hold it up to 2 minutes and even up to 4 minutes. Along doing this you must do diaphragm breathing such as slowing breathing in and out from your belly and not your chest. Everytime I would have sex I would get the sharp pain in my testicles! This was the cure for me in taking away testicle pain. I can give you more information on how to use the Therawand so you can correctly hit the muscles eventhough it’s best to see a pelvic floor therapist who can show you how to hit each muscle inside.

Abdomen pain: For many months and even years it took a long time to try and take away the pain. The best course for this is doing external trigger point using a thercane. I have to be honest it is difficult for me to use it because I can’t put my full strength in hitting it. Perhaps i couldn’t find it but when I would use my hands and position myself against a wall I was able to to push while using the wall for balance and support, this really hurt me fingers so try using the Theracane. The most important thing that worked for me is the stretching the abdomen by doing the cobra stretch which is in the Headache in the Pelvis book and also doing this other stretch where I put my left leg forward and bend all the way to the floor with my right leg stretched and all the back and have my left arm on the floor holding for Support and stretching like no tomorrow. You must breathe deep slowly while stretching. This will help circulate new blood to the muscles. Check the book to see other stretches. I stretch for up to 1 minute on each side.

With all that said you must control any aniexty or fear you have an know that you can beat this. Even if you flareup during the stretching or internal and external trigger point, just know the pain will subside. You will feel it go away as your doing it. I learned while doing these things you have to mentally accept the pain and sort of welcome it and say hello I know your causing me pain but that’s okay you will leave soon. A good book to read is the mindbody connection by Dr Sarno and some other books from Ezer. Forget about that stuff that you have a hidden infection And that you need antibiotics to cure it.. Read through the forum and you will see there is a lot of information that will save your life and calm you down. I know this forum has saved my life and gave me the knowledge needed to combat this horrible problem.

Amonges could you explain the second stretch you did for the stomach muscles again. I was with you until you explained what your right leg was doing. I to have a lot of pain in my lower abdomen especially the right side and I'm hoping that stretch could help me out as well. Thanks.

Hey this is the stretch that made a turn around for me in the constant pain in my abdomen:

1. Go on your hands and knees in cat pose position and push your left hand forward and stretch your left leg all the way back.

2. Have your right leg stretch forward with your right foot position at the center of your stomach in distance.

3. Your right hand should be on the floor at distance at center of the middle of your belly so you are able to support your balance.

4. You should be the stretch in your abdomen. When you get tired of holding yourself up, you can drop down on your left side and, while still holding your current position, stretch out the body.

I hope this helps and you actually feel the stretch. I sorta twist my torso so I can get all angles in the stretch. Let me know if this helps you. Also you reverse the stretch so you get both sides of the left and right abdomen.

Sorry guys I meant to post this one yesterday.

This is my update

Hi guys

Off to a second urologist tomorrow.

My pain around my penis has gotta better with twice daily stretches and using stretch poles on my lower abdomen.

I still have frequent urination.

I went to see a Chinese medicine doctor he thinks it isn’t a bladder issue he think autonomic nerve system, which pfd would make sense.

He gave me two weeks of calming powder and I believe it is working with the stretches.

I went to for a stretch at my gym and my hamstrings are sooooooo tight. Is there a connection through with pfd and hamstrings?

Thanks guys

Yes the pelvic floor and hamstrings are connected along with the lower back and abdomen. Continue doing what your doing with the stretches seems it’s helping you. For the frequent urination read my post above.

Thanks for the reply.

Most of my diet is raw plant based now.
I take quercetin when I suspected it might by prostatitis.

I hope I get a good urologist today.
