Techniques that are easier on the hands?

Post by JuanMilo »

Hi everyone. I've been doing physio for pelvic pain on and off for a few months with some success at times. One of the problems I have is pain in the joints in my hands and I find internal wand stretches/trigger pointing is aggravating that pain. I'm a musician so it's quite discouraging and I'm wondering if there are any tools or techniques that are easier on the hands?

I currently use the usual S shaped wand. I do internal 8 stretches overall (around 40 seconds - a minute) with the thin end - one each at 3, 6, 7 and 9 o'clock, first close to the entrance, then the same further in. I then use the ball end of the wand on the same 8 areas to trigger point, again up to a minute at a time. My physio actually wants me to do 8 sets with the ball end! I find this is already quite aggravating on my finger joints. I don't know if it's the shape of the tool or whether I'd find a straight wand easier to use. I'm just curious what everyone else uses, what techniques you use and whether anyone might be able to recommend anything that is easier on my hands. I think it would have the potential to help me on the way to healing from this condition if so.

Thanks in advance

You may find a Theracane, with its greater leverage, is easier to use.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Thanks a lot, webslave! I'll email my physio to run it by him
