New diagnosis of Prostatitis.. need guidance

Post by Jclmb »

This all started a year ago. I began to have symptoms after I started a new very heavy lifting workout, along with a few months of heavy caffeine consumptions (500mg daily). I had urinate frequency, urgency, and burning cramping pain at base of penis. I went to the doc and all he did was a CT scan, urinalysis, and blood work. All came back clear except in my urine I have micro hematuria ( been happening for 3 years, could be longer that was the first time I had a urine test). After about a week all symptoms cleared after going on vacation.

They cleared for a year almost to the day, I began having pain at the base of my penis behind that bone, before urinating (so only pain when bladder began to get full) some burning while urinating, penis pain, and some urinary frequency but not too bad. I decided to wait it out and symptoms would get better then I would try caffeine and it would flare up again this happened for a month then I went to a urologist.

At the doc he did a ultrasound (clear), prostate exam (very painful), and a urinalysis (micro hematuria). He said it was an inflamed prostate causing my symptoms, and gave me an antibiotic and naproxen (anti inflammatory). My symptoms lessened a lot, at the 2 week mark they were gone. He also said if the micro hematuria is cleared after the medicine he's going to scope me.

But yesterday I ate some spicy BBQ and now there back.. there dulling out but I hate this and I'm having a hard time dealing with it.

My questions are is this normal for it to just flare up like that? Will I ever be able to eat the foods that cause flare ups again? What do y'all do when this happens? It's making me think that it's something worse then what I was diagnosed with.. in trying to trust my doc but I'm a hypochondriac and my mind runs wild.. I just need some reassurance that someone else has experienced these symptoms as well.

You probably have the beginnings of IC, so stick to the IC diet for a while and see how you go. The IC Diet recommends avoiding coffees, regular & green teas, soda & diet soda, fruit juices, vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and vitamin B6, artificial sugars, chocolate.
