Dr. Rhonda Patrick has a long 2.5 hour interview about sulforaphane. Sulforaphane is the beneficial substance in broccoli and may be the compound behind why the 'broccoli cure' works for some people (though quite hard to sustain). Dr Fahey is a respected researcher in this area and at 22:14 he talks about supplementation. Sulforaphane is one of the trickier compounds to supplement, he mentions that it needs to be refrigerated, and so as you can imagine most supplements either don't have it or have precursors (glucoraphanin) with activating enzymes (myrosinase) which have fairly variable efficacy (in another video she mentions glucoraphanin taken with raw broccoli sprouts will increase sulforaphone intake, so that is another strategy).

In this segment Dr. Fahey mentions a specific Sulforaphane supplement they tested that performs just as well as sulforaphane extracted from fresh broccoli in their lab. It's a French supplement called Prostaphane. Unfortunately it's not sold in the US yet.

This first video runs through the wide ranging benefits of sulforaphane.
Also, broccoli sprouts are a much more concentrated way to get sulforaphane than regular broccoli. However, high heat destroys the compound so it must be prepared correctly or raw. This video shows he way to optimize the amount you get:

Re: Sulforaphane and Prostaphane
I missed that a little later in the video Dr. Fahey mentions a US supplement he has worked with the company on. It has glucoraphanin+myrosinase which combine to create sulforaphane rather than directly containing sulforaphane like the Prostaphane but this have similar results. It's called Avmacol by Nutramax labs http://www.nutramaxstore.com/avmacol-un ... -p445.aspx.
