Does anyone have any experience with or knowledge of "Prostara" made by Himex Biotech or Himex Labs (and not to be confused with Prostera made by Vita Sciences)?
I have read a little about any accredited quercetin product and [discontinued product], and Urismooth. Which is the best? Prostara seems to be the newest and best but not many independent sources. I am 36 and have just gone to doctor. I am awaiting Urinalysis and so far my doctor has done nothing else but send me for lab work (urine). I have been in pain/discomfort on and off for about 2 years but it is finally so bad that it motivated me to go to the doctor. My urine stream is weak and intermittent. I frequently have the need to urinate but do not feel as my bladder is emptying. Also painful after ejaculating. It is uncomfortable to sit down. I notice some people seem to take a cocktail of supplements and pills and I would rather not. What is the 1 best supplement all around? Is Prostara a good one? Please advise. Thanks

Re: Prostara & other supplements
Prostara will be a waste of money. It contains some ingredients for treating BPH, but nothing specifically for CPPS (and that's probably what you have, from the sound of your symptoms):
Zinc
Selenium
Saw Palmetto
Garlic
Pumpkin Seed Powder
Nettle Root Extract
Beta-Sitosterols
Pygeum Bark Extract
Soy Isoflavones
Lycopene
Urismooth is also for treating BPH and contains similar ingredients.
[discontinued product] is for treating BPH.
The one you want is Quercetin (and I say that not only because they are a sponsor of this site)

Re: Prostara & other supplements
Thanks for your advice and quick response. I do appreciate it. It will be interesting to get the lab results back (urine) but for whatever reason I believe they will all come back very clean (due to my lifestyle). The earliest I can get in to see my family doctor is Jan 16/ 2017. As such I am worried my doctor will just put me on antibiotics and play the trial and error guessing game. Can you tell me if there may be other tests or things I should ask my doctor about that may be of some help? Thanks again.

Please fill out your signature area (see link in my signature for instructions).
You can ask for a cystoscopy from a urologist to look at the urethra, prostate and bladder, just to confirm the diagnosis and put your mind at ease.

Re: Prostara & other supplements
After a urinalysis (urine test) came back completely clean, my doctor has told me I have non-bacterial prostatitis and prescribed me Apo-Sulfatrim DS 800/160mg tablets to take twice daily for 2 weeks. He said it should bring down the inflammation even though urine was clean. I have taken it for 5 days with no change in my condition. To be likely wasting 2 weeks in misery (in my opinion) seems foolish to me. I have ordered any accredited quercetin product and plan on starting to take it after I finish the course of antibiotics just so I can be sure I finish the antibiotics as per my physicians instructions and can tell him they were useless. I have an appt. to see my Dr. on Jan. 16th. Should he (doctor) want to put me other antibiotics, I am wondering if I should attempt to take them or refuse them and keep taking the Quercetin? I know any accredited quercetin product should perhaps not be taken with antibiotics and seeing as how my prostatitis is not bacterial and my current 5 days of taking the Apo-Sulfatrim DS has done absolutely nothing does anyone have advice as to what I might do. I have little faith in my doctors understanding of prostatitis and have a feeling he just going to shovel more antibiotics on me. Can anyone provide me any advice or guidance as to what might be the best course of action.
Much thanks in advance!

Re: Prostara & other supplements
Refuse more antibiotics, IMO. Move on from uros ... most of them are useless in treating this.
