Cystoscopy trigger
Been having restricted urination since my biopsy a year ago so Urologist performed a cystoscopy this morning to check for scarring and restrictions. As the scope pushed through the neck into bladder I felt my typical sharp pain through my perineum; pain 9/10. He pulled out scope and said no scarring and bladder looks fine but Is not emptying. He recommended Flomax for that issue and I was on my way. Within an hour I was in full blown flare with burning perineum and intermittent sharp pains. My first pee post-scope dropped me. As I relaxed to urinate intense sharp pains impulsed through my perineum. I've never found a trigger to my pain with all the PT work and prostate massages, until today. Any feedback on possible pain mechanism kindly appreciated.

Re: Cystoscopy trigger
Was it a rigid scope or flexible? Rigid are worse for post-procedure pain. There little micro-tears in the urethra that cause the pain, irritating the lining. It feels like pissing razor blades, we all know what it's like, and it will pass in a few days.

Re: Cystoscopy trigger
It was flexible, and when it hit the *zone* I felt sharp pain through my perineum radiating to my inner thigh, slightly. There was no burning when peeing, just impulses of sharp pain in the perineum when doing it. Of course, the urologist's explanation was *prostatitis* I said, my psa is now low, my volume is 19cc; he said, I don't know.

Re: Cystoscopy trigger
PSA not linked to prostatitis so that's irrelevant, normal range is 15cc to 30cc so you have no worries there. Wait a week and see how it feels.
