How many times should internal trigger point therapy be done a week?

Post by Sampson123 »

Hi people,

Just wondering how many times is the recommended amount of internal trigger point therapy done a week?

I do about once a week. I've tried to do more but my muscles are still a little sore from the previous session?

Also is paradoxical relaxation more important than trigger point therapy would you say?

Any responses would be gladly welcomed

Once a day would be ideal.

Help

Post by Sampson123 »

Hi guys,

I need some help/advice if that's ok? I've suffered from CPPS for 3 yrs. luckily I quickly found this website soon after my symptoms and purchased AHIP and I feel having found his site so early on, I'm convinced it's helped me recover quicker than if I hadn't found this site.

I've only ever experienced perineum pain and it has gotten better over the last 18 months. Now it occurs less than what it used to. The only time I get perineal pain is if I get stressed ( which I'm dealing a lot better with) but the main one is if I ejaculate. I ejaculate about once every 2 weeks and I relax my body while it occurs yet still I get perineum pain.

I'm doing internal trigger point work using a therawand as per the instructions in AHIP and usually the pain subsides the next day.

But I could have no pain for 2-3 weeks sometime more and feel perfectly normal but as soon as I have sex/ejaculate the perineum pain returns.

If I don't have sex, I feel no pain.

I still have trigger points, but they take an age to go. Feel like I've been working them for ages. How and when does the perineum pain stop after having sex? I feel it's the last bit I need to get over this. Can anyone share there experiences?

Your responses are greatly welcomed

Many men ignore the psychological aspect of this condition, and think it's all about massage and trigger points, whereas it's the psychological aspect that's actually more important.

You need to consciously monitor the state of your pelvis, and practice paradoxical relaxation religiously

Stubborn perineum pain - help!

Post by Sampson123 »

Hi webslave/everyone

Would be really grateful for some advice if that's ok?

I've had CPPS for 3 yrs. My only pain that I've experienced has been perineum pain. Luckily I found this website and AHIP very quickly after I had symptoms and I think this is the reasons why it hasn't got worse, so ice been fortunate in that aspect.

I've been doing the internal trigger point work and finding trigger points. Throughout the 3 yrs the frequency of my perineum pain has reduced quite a bit. I now go 3 weeks or so without any pain, and when I do get pain it's relatively minor.

My only problem is sex. If I have sex, I get perineum pain. If I don't I feel perfectly normal.

I can go 3 weeks without sex and feel fine but as soon as I ejaculate, I feel pain about a day later and it last for a few days or until I do internal trigger work and it goes again. Stress or sitting can sometimes cause discomfort but it's mainly sex.

I can't understand it. No sex = pain free but sex = pain

My trigger points are still there even when I'm pain free but are more prominent after I've had sex.

Do I need to do more relaxation? I don't have any other pain whatsoever, just perineum pain.

Does anyone share this or have some advice they could impart?

I'd be very grateful

Having sex uses the muscles of the pelvis, via orgasm/ejaculation. The rest of the time your pelvic muscles are overtensed, but quiescent, because they are not being put through the rigors of sex, so your CPPS remains subclinical.

The fact that you flare with sex shows that the underlying condition is not fully healed yet, and that more works needs to be done in relaxation. Short answer: get a timer to remind you to drop the pelvic floor, take up regular meditation, use relaxation CDs. These topics are all discussed in numerous places on these forums.

Thank you webslave,

I really appreciate your answer. Apologies for sending my question twice, I though my 1st one hadn't been sent off and so created another.

I never realised that relaxation was so important. I'll try and get a CD that will hopefully help. Thank you again for your reply. It's much appreciated

Hope you can help

Thanks

Get a timer, for example
viewtopic.php?f=36&t=7727

How often or how much is an individual thing, at least hourly at first I would think, just for a minute or so, until it becomes second nature.

As I said, hourly for a minute or so, which comes to say 20 mins a day. On top of that, set some time aside for relaxation sessions, such as Dr Wise conducts through his audio tapes. If you have not attended the clinic, you can try the other relaxation CDs:

And read a good book on meditation:
