Who else has body wide stiffness/muscle pain?

Post by N2Deep »

My CPPS symptoms have always just seemed like muscle spasm/tightness, very little shooting nerve pain like symptoms. I can control my symptoms but I have never been able to completely rid myself of CPPS because it's not just the pelvic area, my entire body is tight and filled to the brim with trigger points. Just wondering if this is common or if most people just have problems in the pelvic area?
Up to about age 17 I could do all the sports, weightlifting, etc I wanted without feeling tight or having to know what a trigger point was. After that if I wanted to work out, the amount of self trigger point therapy I have to do to keep going is a full time job, the tightness and TP's just keep coming back. I found dropping gluten and dairy helped a lot in this regard, but FAR from cured me. I just think if I can cure whatever is causing my entire body to be filled with trigger points/muscle stiffness, I can cure CPPS , because for me TRP therapy/stretching is just a hit and miss band-aid. And while I in a way understand some peoples disdain for chiropractors around here, I do not understand their faith in stretching/TRP therapy as these have little more science backing them up.
What I'd like to know is what is the difference between me and the millions of people that can be be extremely hard on themselves like professional athletes/weightlifters/laborers etc. that don't have muscle pain/stiffness and have never heard of a trigger point and have no need for therapy?
Age: 29 | Onset Age: 17 | Symptoms: perineum ache, tightness, spasm, sometimes shooting pain. urinary urgency, trouble voiding, dribbling. Painful spasmodic weak erections, perineum pain/pressure during erection, post ejaculatory pain. | Helped By: heat, internal/external TRP release, stretching, hydrocortisone (cortef), happy thoughts, good antiinflammatory diet | Worsened By: sitting, cold, defecating, catastrophic thinking/stress, gluten, dairy, all food intolerance/ gut issues.

Sounds like fibromyalgia, which is commonly linked to CP/CPPS (and IC).
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I have a lot of tension in my body too and i suspect it is closely related to CPPS or caused by it. I always feel the need to stretch my muscles throughout the entire day. Especially my back. MAJOR tension in my lower and upper back that i struggle with most days. I've wondered if I have some kind of fibromyalgia. If you figure out what helps, please post thank you

Same here. It'll be interesting to see what the scientific community finds on whether fibromyalgia is or isn't identical to systemic myofascial hyperalgesia/allodynia/spontaneous pain evoked from a period of localized chronic pain in terms of biochemical effects and treatment efficacy.
Age: 26 | Onset Age: 23 | Symptoms: Neuropathic-like pain and hyperalgesia (lateral/anterior thighs mostly, but distributed throughout body); Pain (penis shaft, right side, when erect for long or excess masturbation) | Previous Symptoms: Pain (testicles; penis underside, mostly near base and running up urethra, sharp/burning; perennial region, dull; ejaculatory; post-ejaculatory); Urinary (moderate incomplete voiding; moderate frequency and pain on bladder filling); Sensations (cold in head of penis) | Helped By: Stretching (especially hip rotators and flexors); Yoga (especially lunges, warrior 2, and pigeon) Trigger point release (abdominals; iliopsoas; gluteus muscles and piriformis; bulbospongiosus & ischiocavernosus; thigh adductors); Meditation (mindfulness); Walking & Aerobic Exercise | Worsened By: Stress, anxiety, too much alcohol, lack of sleep, sitting at length | Current prescriptions: nortriptyline (10 mg, 1x at night; for CNS sensitization and IBS) Previous prescriptions: hydroxyzine (10 mg, 1x at night; for urinary symptoms/mast cell stabilization; useful), clonazepam (0.25-0.5 mg, 1x at night; for anxiety/CNS sensitization; useful for short time)

I have struggled with "moving pain" in my body for years, and lots of stiffness and strange aches. A lot of it disappeared when I went completely gluten free three years ago.

But I still had a lot of back/shoulder and hip/leg pain. From January to May this year I saw an osteopath 4-6 times per month. He did trigger point therapy, myofascial release and whatever else an osteopath does. It resolved virtually all of the non-pelvic floor pain. In fact, by May I also had several weeks where I felt almost "normal" (as in very few CPPS symptoms).

The CPPS came back with a vengeance a month later, but I have none of the other problems anymore. So TPT really has worked well for me.
