Extremely Tight Bladder Neck Non Surgical Solutions
Extremely Tight Bladder Neck Non Surgical Solutions
Anyone have any input on this topic? Recent cystoscopy reveals tight bladder neck, however very easy passage, with the onset of prostatitis. Been doing acupuncture, taking Prostaphil 2 - 2 a day along with 2 cups of 4A Bell tea.
No meds advised as yet just physiotherapy until I see another specialist to do Urodynamics...

No alpha-blockers yet? That's what I'd do first with a tight bladder neck ... they probably want you au naturel for the urodynamics tests.

Re: Extremely Tight Bladder Neck Non Surgical Solutions
That makes sense, I'm in Canada and the wait times to see a specialist are literally months... They recommended doing Physio with a pelvic floor specialist in the meantime... does this makes sense? I was also referred to a prostatitis clinic and was told I had very tense pelvic floor muscles.... Was also told to stop weight lifting...

As long as they do not try to make you do Kegel exercises!

Does weight lifting contribute to symptoms? I read so many conflicting theories...

Yes, exercises like squats can provoke flares.

Re: Extremely Tight Bladder Neck Non Surgical Solutions
is this because the pelvic wall tightens up around the prostate and bladder neck?

No, pelvic exercises are bad for the same reason Kegels are contraindicated. The pelvic muscles are sick, they're in spasm, so giving them a huge workload results in pain

Re: Extremely Tight Bladder Neck Non Surgical Solutions
- NSAID, antiinflammatory, unlikely to help much and may cause stomach pain (stop if you get black stools or stomach upset or heart symptoms)
- Diazepam (valium) is a tranquilliser. Oral would work as well, IMO. Good as a short term measure.
- Prostaphil is pollen extract; I would rather use any accredited quercetin product (also has pollen extract PLUS quercetin).
- 4A Bell Tea contains herbal ingredients, none of which are indicated for Prostatitis. You'd be far better off using the Quercetin suppliers products, which have peer reviewed published scientific studies behind them.
- Physiotherapy is fine as long as the PT knows about triggerpoints and has heard about the Wise-Anderson protocol (aka the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol).
- Acupuncture can be helpful for some people, not all.

Re: Extremely Tight Bladder Neck Non Surgical Solutions
He may check your EPS for WBCs. That's old school, not really helpful. If he prescribes antibiotics, you know you've got a dud on your hands. In your case, he should prescribe an alpha blocker.
