Recommended biofeedback devices?

Post by resianam »

My PT just started me on biofeedback to try to learn how to relax the pelvic muscles. I've gotten there but it's really tough, I don't know how to relax them. Is it possible to do this testing at home for more practice? I can't find anything on eBay but perhaps I don't know what to look for. Any tips about how to learn how to do this?

I wish someone would explain Paradoxical Relaxation also or send me to a known site on the web where I can start this. I know many have done this on this site so some insight would be greatly appreciated.

I firmly believe a lot of my pain is due to Anxiety/stress of CPPS/IC or whatever it is. Please do not tell me to read A headache in the pelvis. I would appreciate some real experienced feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Paradoxical Relaxation is like a method of medication, where you note and accept the pelvic tension without trying to relax it and, by doing so, it should relax with time. I haven't had much success with it. The chapter is like 100 pages long, it's a little ridiculous.

Nothing but a introduction IMO

Post by smackman »

Thanks for the video. I have seen it at least 5 times and it actually IMO tells this man nothing. He just barely introduces this method but does not give any in depth analysis on how to do this or anything. I realize he is a very smart man but in this video he offers very little to someone like me UNLESS I attend his class. Money talks; Bull Crap walks..........

Is it illegal to give some actual instruction on what to do? I guess I could go get a $10000 dollar loan and go to the class but it does have mixed reviews on its actual success verses the cost.

How many on this website have actually been to this class and had a successful outcome? I realize by reading it is not a overnight "fix". It takes time; generally lots of time.

Hopefully, I will come across a Urologist or some specialist who can help me. Once again, thanks. Hopefully one day I will wake up and this chronic issue will be gone or at least gone into remission. I have just about lost all hope after 2 years and 7 months of this debilitating illness.

I'd wondered the same. The book recommends something like 2 hours a day of exercises for a year or more. It's quite extreme. I do about 30min a day, less motivated lately. I've been doing PT with a group that specializes in this stuff for about 8mo now and symptoms have gotten considerably better but it's hard to get over that last hump. That can't happen until I learn to relax the muscles and that probably just won't happen. But I'll keep trying as long as insurance keeps paying.

The clinic introduces you to the why and how of PR and then equips you with a series of mp3s, on a iPod type device, to guide you through it at home.

It is not something one can summarize effectively here in a posting.

I will be scoped next Friday for the 1st time. I AM NOT looking forward to it but I feel and so does this Urologist is a step that needs to be done to get a "start" to hopefully finding what my problem is.

Like this morning, My whole penis is burning; It has been a LOT worse in the past but it keeps me from being a normal man. Not a day goes by where I do not have penis tip burning/raw feeling.

I would go to Dr. Wise clinic in a second if I had been diagnosed with CPPS. I believe this is my issue but I have never received a diagnosis of CPPS from the now 8 Urologist I have seen in the last 31 months.

Hopefully, I will get some positive answers/feedback from this Urologist in Plano, Texas. He seems very knowledgeable.

Headache in the Pelvis mentions penis tip pain as a symptom. When the muscles around the penis tighten up, they constrict blood flow and compress the nerves feeding it. Just like in other places, compress a nerve in one place and it refers pain to another downstream.
