I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with prostatitis by a Urologist. He described my prostate as feeling "soggy". I've been on Cipro for 2 weeks.
My symptoms started at the very end of May, initially a horrible, constant need to urinate. This caused massive anxiety and despair. Following on from that came urethral pain, golf ball in the rectum pain, testicle pain, suprapubic pain. I cleared some space in my life after about 3 weeks of hell and concentrated on relaxing my life, doing daily meditation etc. I also started anti-spasmodic drugs which did help my urination need.
I bought a Headache in the Pelvis which in truth, scared the living daylights out of me. I luckily discovered that in my small city is an expert physiotherapist specialising in male pelvic floor problems. I had about 2 weeks where my symptoms were largely dialled down in volume to a mild 1 or 2 in pain, and unless I got stressed, the urination urge was fine.
I had my first internal and external trigger point work done 36 hours ago and I'm in hell again. Firstly, after 12 hours I had a lot of pelvic, rectal and testicle pain. Then today my urination urgency/frequency is as bad as it was right at the start of this whole horrible process. I'm freaked out, depressed, anxious, despairing, worried, sick.......... I was aware that a flare up could occur when the trigger points were worked on but now I just wish I'd left well enough alone. Even though I also know that I have chronically tight muscles in my back, groin, hips, hamstrings, and plenty of very sore tender spots in my pelvic floor.
Please somebody tell me I'm moving in the right direction and that I'm not crazy.....

The flare after working on trigger points is very good news. Now you know you have CPPS and that you can and will get better. I know that's hard to focus on when you're in pain, but it's true.
How often are you having work done? Have you tried anything else besides antibiotics and trigger point therapy? What are you doing for relaxation? Hot baths? Relaxation CDs? Have you tried Quercetin? etc
Welcome anyway, and do fill out your signature...

Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Thanks for your reply Webslave
I had my first trigger point session on Wednesday, 3 days ago. The pain settled down after 24hrs but the urinary frequency is driving me mad.
I felt that a lower abdominal trp was really referring into my bladder. Now I'm just afraid to have any more work done!
I'm taking Vesitirim (solifenacin succinate) which is an anti spasmodic that men with enlarged prostates are prescribed. It did work initially but the last 3 days it seems useless.
I've also spent 3 weeks on Cipro.
I've ordered any accredited quercetin product but as I live in Ireland it could be a while before it turns up.
My prostate is enlarged and I'm seeing my Urologist again in 2 days time.
I could almost handle the pain if the urinary frequency wasn't so horrible. I'm finding this aspect is causing me huge despair.
I've been reading A Headache in the Pelvis and my PT is a long time expert in men's pelvic floor treatment. She has treated loads of prostatitis patients and assures me that I will be fine.
I'm very prone to the catastrophic thinking and anxiety that the Wise Anderson book talks so much about.
My wife is hugely supportive but I do feel like a burden and a basket case.
Any recovery stories, I'd love to hear that I'm not going to go mad.....
