High Estradiol related to CPPS/ Prostatitis?

Post by clincoln »

I've struggled with CPPS symptoms for 3 years (frequent urination, discomfort in urethra, pain with ejaculation, sore groin, ED) and for the last 6 months symptoms haven't really let up at all. I've been doing physical therapy with some positive results, but this month I opted to get a hormone panel done and I just got the results- my Testosterone is ok, at 514, Cortisol somewhat high but not bad, but Estradiol (Estrogen) is through the roof at 59 (scale is 13-56). I'm 37 years old.

I started looking into high Estradiol and prostate health and there seems to be a strong connection. Anyone else have experience in this subject? Could an aromatase inhibitor be helpful for CPPS symptoms?

There is a link to prostate cancer, so have a PSA test.

The general advice on the net to combat high estrogen in men is to limit alcohol, avoid xenoestrogens (like meat and dairy products raised using growth hormones), avoid excessive soy, maintain a healthy weight (estrogen is produced by fat cells), exercise (lowers the amount of fatty tissue in the body and this slows the metabolization of testosterone into estrogen) take zinc supplements (zinc can slow the change of testosterone into estrogen), eat more nuts (the fat in nuts, such as brazil nuts, almonds, cashews, walnuts, and sunflower seeds, help raise the level of testosterone in the body), eat more broccoli (contains a strong anti-estrogen) and lastly Consider hormone replacement therapy.

Thanks. PSA was 2.8 which is slightly elevated.

I am seeing an endocrinologist next month and would consider something like Arimidex short term based on the fact that the number is so high, and the fact that my lifestyle and diet is already very healthy. Meanwhile I am trying to lower it naturally with all of the above things you mention as well as DIM and Nettle.

Has anyone experienced relief of CPPS symptoms from lowering a high estradiol? I can't imagine it will hurt anything.

I thought the normal range for PSA was 4.0 ..I'm 40 yrs young and mine as of Feb.2014 is 1.02 ..I have been told by more than one doctor that my prostate is mildly enlarged...Been trying to figure way to shrink it ...The docs have said it's not large enough to be on any type of meds..
