Just an interesting and recent story about my dad that I thought I'd contribute to the forum.
My dad recently went in to see a physical therapist about a chronic muscle condition he developed in his upper back and neck. He's a surgeon and has to hold his head and neck in a particular way, while wearing magnifying glasses, during surgery.
Over the years this resulted in the muscles group chronically tightening and causing pain up and down his neck and head. He wasn't sure what the situation was exactly and went to see a physical therapist. It was cool watching him go through this and learn things at the same time I was dealing with my muscle condition. His was easier to resolve obviously because the muscles are more voluntary and he could really do things externally to help sort out the condition. In the end he had to do the same things we all do here. He relaxed, avoided the situation that caused the condition, took hot baths and went in for massage sessions 2 times a week. The whole thing took 6 months. He also did his own massage and was advised to take a table spoon of olive oil every morning and night. The muscle cleared up and he's now back to normal. I thought I'd post the story because it gave me lots of insight into the muscle condition we are all dealing with here. It will take some time for it to all resolve but it does get better.
The hardest part for us all is avoiding the situations that caused the condition. Nobody wants to be a monk with this thing. Hahaha. We just have to find ways to be healthy about it. ;)
