Hi guys,
I suggest in this post we gather a list of exercises for strengthening the pelvic floor muscles.
Please any of you share the exercise with description and images (and possibly your experience with it).
Also is there a risk of overstreching or doing harm to these muscles by excessive exercise? What do you think?
Thanks to all.

Exercises for strengthening the Pelvis
Age: 25 Onset: 17 Current symptoms unchanged since then - frequency and urgency in the bladder and when I have a flare also in the perineum, mild discomfort in the perineum, nocturia. Helped by: ignoring the problem (not very good I think) Not helped by: anxiety, alcohol, sometimes caffeine, carbonated drinks

Re: Exercises for strengthening the Pelvis
Please search the forum for "kegels". Exercising deep pelvic muscles that are already hypertonic is usually counterproductive.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Re: Exercises for strengthening the Pelvis
Thanks for the reply. About yoga exercises - I'm not sure which of them are aimed at strengthening and which at relaxing the muscles. Is there a post in this forum discussing this?

Re: Exercises for strengthening the Pelvis
Not to be a dick, but you obviously haven't done any homework on this condition because if you have you would know that exercising the pelvic muscles is strongly advised against for men with CPPS. Stretching is definitely recommended though and there are some really good posts on this forum and in "A Headache in the Pelvis"
The best 2 sources for learning about this condition:
1. Get the book "A Headache in the Pelvis" and
2. use the search function at the top of this page, there's GOBS of excellent posts on this forum discussing just about everything you can think of over and over again.

Age: 29 Onset Age: 29 (6-5-11)
Symptoms: Ache/sore in the perineum, inflamed/golf ball in perineum. Painful erections. Pain after ejaculation and during sex. Slight increase in urination but nothing severe (this use to be much worse and has gotten better).
Helped By: Hot baths, Sleep/laying down, exercise, relaxing, klonopin/valium/Ativan, having fun
Worsened By: sex/ejaculation/arousal/porn, sitting, stress/anxiety, rubbing/touching prostate
My story This whole thing started immediately following an extensive porn/masturbation weekend event, basically 5 4hour long masturbation sessions over a 3 day weekend, constantly holding off my orgasm by tensing PC muscle. I've also been masturbating and having sex like a porn star for the past 8 years now, constantly holding off the ejaculation by tensing PC muscle....so bad!! My CPPS has gotten slightly better after stopping porn/masturbating amongst other things and I'm now left with the main symptom listed above. I'm also a recovering porn addict.

Hi tweezerr,
Thanks for the post I don't find it offending. Do you personally do any internal/external PT to help your condition? Does it help you?

Re: Exercises for strengthening the Pelvis
I do internal stretches (stretching out the anal sphincter)
I also do external stretches, ie yoga type stretching. And then I do ab massaging and ab TP work with a Theracane.
I do not do any internal TP therapy yet. The only reason I haven't yet is I can't find any TP's and I believe the best and really only way to do internal and even good external TP therapy is by working with a PT that can either do it for you or even better show you how to do it. And the Wise clinic is the best at that. I am planning on attending in the next month or so myself to learn internal and external TP therapy.
Is what I'm doing helping? I would say it definitely is helping, not sure how much because I am doing a lot of other stuff at the same time and I've been improving.

Re: Exercises for strengthening the Pelvis
Yeah, I would stay very far away from kegels right now. Really, it's excessive Kegel type of clenching that got most of us into this condition. Strengthening the pelvic floor is only generally advised toward the end of therapy, years later, once general releasing has relaxed the pelvic muscles considerably.
Age: 33 | Onset Age: 28
Flare | Symptoms: burning after urination/defecation, post-urinary dribbling, low libido, low arousal, pelvic aches and pains.
Helped By: Physical therapy of the levator ani muscle group, Relaxation, Diet
Worsened By: Eating refined sugar and gluten, coffee, beer, stress
