Question about internal PT

Post by jcacciat »

I had a PT session today where the therapist worked internally on the puborectalis muscle, which seems to be the main source of my pain. This was my 6th session, and the most painful so far. After the session, I noticed a small amount of fluid coming out of my penis. It looked more like semen than urine. I asked the therapist about this, and she seemed surprised and didn't have an answer as to why this occurred. I asked her if it were possible that she had inadvertantly expressed prostatic fluid, and she said that was a possibility. I am wondering if others have had this experience? I do not feel like I've been harmed, and in fact, it was a good session (I'm feeling some relief). Thoughts?

It sounds exactly like she milked your prostate during PT and some fluid came out. Apparently this can sometimes provide short term relief for some patients (it did for me. I only felt better for about a day).

It's strange, my PT usually stays away from my prostate. She never hits it during the course of a session.
Age: 35 Onset Age: 31
Symptoms: An almost constant feeling of the need to urinate all the time. Pain in the penis, at the tip, and "behind" the penis inside the pelvis. Also urethral pain after ejaculation. No rectal pain or symptoms at all.
Helped By: Hot baths, Dr. Wise's relaxation tapes. Internal trigger point work every two days with the Wise-Anderson Protocol wand.
Worsened By: Ejaculation (changes the pain to a burning sensation most times) Alcohol increases urinary frequency greatly. Falling "off the wagon" and not following the Wise-Anderson Protocol protocol.

Makes me wonder if she knows what she's doing. I think I'm going to enroll in the next available W-A Clinic. I know this all takes time, but I can't help but feeling like I'm wasting time. yoink15, how often do you see your PT?

It's quite possible that she did express prostatic fluid during her work. This can even be caused by something as simple as a bowel movement. Could just be that you had some excess fluids in there.

I wouldn't worry, but I always encourage people who are worried to see their doctor. Peace of mind is a good thing.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!
