Hi there,
I was a member here a few years ago when I had symptoms and all has been good for the last couple years but unfortunately my prostatitis flared about again about a month ago.

So here's my stats
-40 years old
-Suffered off and on symptoms for the past few years (burning urethra, sore prostate), most of the time the symptoms have just faded away after several months on their own.
-This time I have the burning urethra most of the day and occasionally my prostate itself gets inflamed.
- I went to the Dr a few times to get checked out and nothing came back (as expected) from urine test (no bacteria) but I got a 2 week supply of Cipro and Naproxen just in case.

Anyways this is what I have been doing to treat the symptoms.

Supplements
Weber Super Prostate (Saw Palmetto and other stuff), Omega 3, NeoProxen, Probiotics (Acidophillus), Quercetin, (Will try that any accredited quercetin product when it arrives in the mail)

Pain
-Advil (for pain and anti-inflammatory)
-Sometimes ice pack
-For the burning urethra I sometimes apply this Sunburn Relief gel (with lidocaine) which is pretty good at masking the pain

Exercise
-About an hour every day on an Elliptical trainer
-I also have one of those prostate friendly seat cushions at work

Hot Bath
-Try to soak in the Hot Tub a few times a week

Diet
-Zero Caffeine, trying to eat Anti-Inflammatory foods, and more Alkaline Diet (less acid)
-More fiber since constipation really seems to cause a flare up

The burning urethra really flares up after I urinate so I'm not sure how much water I should be drinking a day. Also an ice pack masks the pain as well but I'm not sure if the cold is doing more harm than good.
Exercise definitely seems to help, I should try some of the stretching exercises mentioned on this site.

I'm pretty confident that the symptoms will fade away after several months (as they have in the past) but anything else I should be doing?

I use ice packs as well. If you are anything like myself, I'm sure they aren't doing harm. Just be certain that you have something between your skin and the pack (I use a couple layers of paper towel) to prevent frostbite, and stop every ten minutes or so until the area warms back up.

Personally, I suggest at least one hot bath every day during a flare. I take 2-3 a day, but my schedule is admittedly less occupied than most peoples'. Take time to soak if you can, as opposed to rushing through. The baths do miracles for my post-urinary irritation, usually providing instant relief. If you're not able to sit in a deep tub, you can try a sitz bath. They probably sell them at your local drug store, ie Wal-Greens.

You have already been through the urology gauntlet and established that you don't have an infection. So, you might consider some physical therapy from someone educated in pelvic pain.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!

I'd try Prelief for the burning after you go pee! I've been on it several months now and it's much, much, better. It's a pretty cheap try anyway!!!

I will try it but I dont think it's related to anything specific that I eat and the burning is pretty constant all day long

Me too, but it's gotten better since I started it, so I'm staying on it! All I can say is it's livable now!
