Also I forgot to mention in earlier posts that during examination my prostate feels normal, also there is no wbc in urine or eps. Still I suffer from pain in testicle, frequent small urinations, reduced ejaculate force and volume, some erectile difficulties. My Uro has no clue. I have searched this matter myself and what I can come up with is that I suffer from prostadynia. I have tried 2 different alpha blockers, Hytrin and Xaltral.
First I was on Hytrin and just within a coupple of days my urgency started to fade away my penis looked more normal(not shrunken), I also managed to get some fluid out during prostate massage, also my semen looked more healthy and viscous. But after 12 days I started to get some headache, and erections at night which I dont have had much of since this condition started. I am not sure if it was normal erections or if it was something called priapism which I have red is a rare side effect from the drug, cause the erections was very strong. Anyway I told my doctor about it and he suggested to switch from Hytrin to Xatral just for me not to worry cause he told me they work the same but have different side effect profiles. Xatral is considdered mor safe, he told me. I used Xatral for almost 2 weeks but I did not achieve any improvement at all. The frequency and all the problems mentioned above came back within days.
Any suggestions why? Could it be that Hytrin is more effective and the right one for me when the problem might not only be the prostate but also surounding areas, maby muscles?
Anyway I switched back to Hytrin again, and I will se if I improve again.
The only thing that concerns me is the side effect profile from Hytrin. It says that it can cause impotence. I have quite weak erections due to all this so I am quite worried that they will vanish completley? The second thing I am evry worreid about is priapism that is also a side effect from Hytrin although rare. First time I went on Hytrin I started to have night time erections which I dont use to have- If these were normal or some kind of priapism I dont know, I am just so worried that I will hurt myself but I still feel that taking Hytrin might be the way to go for me. Also due to my weak normal erections I occassionally use viagra, is this ok to use with Hytrin. Also I am a quite worried as a person so any info or experiences about Hytrin would be very much appreciated.
Prostadynia (any suggestions)

Do not worry about Hytrin. The negative side-effects, if they occur, are reversible. But if you get an erection that really won't quit, seek medical attention immediately.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

But is it ok to take viagra while on Hytri?
If an erection occur that won't quit how soon must medical attention be needen. I was thinking if maby I am sleepin and won't notice it?
Is there anyone that have experience from Hytrin on this board?
Webslave, you seem to be very knowledgeable after reading some of your postS, a lot better than the DR`s that I have met. Do you think that Hytrin is better in my situation than Xatral?
Is it common with erectile difficulties with this condition, and is there effective ways overcoming this? Could Hytrin help with this if erectile difficulties are musecle related?
Thanks once again for a great site.

I don't want to answer any further questions on this issue as they deal with potentially serious medical issues, and I am not a urologist. You must ask your urologist these questions.

Re: Prostadynia (any suggestions)
If you ever have a painful erection that lasts from several hours to days, you should seek medical attention immediately. If priapism occurs and is not treated in time, permanent damage may result. You definitely need to discuss this concern with your urologist.I_hate_cp wrote:I am not sure if it was normal erections or if it was something called priapism which I have red is a rare side effect from the drug, cause the erections was very strong.

Thanks for the info
As I said in earlier post I dont think it was some kind of priapism since the erection subsided by themself. I think maby it was my normal erections coming back since Hytrin made me feel better in general, less frequency, prostate drain a lot better. I also tried Xatral but I did not feel any positive effects on that. So obviously Hytrin does something which Xatral does not. So I am gonna try Hytrin and I will see. Is there anyone that have experience with Hytrin and how common is priapism as a side effect?
