Since a lot of people on this forum have some form of IBS I thought I would post what I have done in the past for IBS. I had tried prescription meds only to have some annoying side-effects or not work at all. Herbs are natural each with different properties they work with the body to correct itself. Cheaper too!
For those of you with IBS that is characterized by diarrhea or loose stools, take one ginger root capsule after every meal you eat. After the symptoms start going away and your stools start getting more firm, taper off the ginger root. Don't take this herb on an empty stomach or if you have ulcers or if you have a type of IBS that makes you constipated. Rather if you have these symptoms take one licorice root capsule with meals. I speak from experience.
It is also pertinant to mention that once I treated my IBS problems, my urinary/CPPS symptoms diminished greatly.

I am going to put what you said in my memory since at this time I have been seeing a gastro doctor about IBS and my problem with loose stool and trouble holding it in there until I get to a bathroom. I have heard that there is some different herbs that help with stomach problems I just don't really know much about them any more info you can give would be great thanks man?

I am speaking from personal experience. ZR the best thing I have used for this is Betaine HCL. Some people don't produce enough stomach acid to digest fats and proteins. I stumbled upon this because I have gallbladder attacks. I drink a couple tablespoons of vinegar and the pain goes away. I have researched this and from what I understand is that the extra acid from the vinegar stimulates gallbladder to release more bile which helps with digestion.

Some people also get a lot of relief from the opposite. They have excessive stomach acid that irritates and causes diarrhea. I have chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and IBS D as well, and while this didn't work for me, it has worked for others I know.
They use a little bit of baking soda in water after each meal. Similar effect to using tums, but not exactly the same. It is used to neutralize some of the acids in the stomach. Anyways, its something easy and cheap you can try for a month and see how it goes. (Not to mention its a very safe way to go.).
I also agree with the ginger tablets. We use them in Chinese Medicine. But they are only used for specific types of loose stools. For those with what we call "cold" diarrhea. Ie, watery, loose, early morning, better with a heating pad or hot bath, and no strong smell (think eating too much fresh fruit all at once, or too much icecream). "Hot" type diarrhoea feels "hot" coming out and has a much more pungent odor (think about eating overly spicy greasy Mexican food, or too hot curry). Because ginger root is hot, it should be used for cold type (to warm up the digestion). It should NOT be used for hot type, as it will just make the condition worse.
People are generally more prone to one or the other.
IBS is a tricky thing to treat. Even more so than chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome I think. chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome often gets better in peoples life time, and many many cases completely resolve. I've seen this less so in IBS cases (although they can improve A LOT). This is just my experience. Herbs can really help IBS if you see something with enough experience to guide you.

Re: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) natural remedy
I have been researching the relationship with inflammation and gut health. I noticed that when my prostatitis symptoms come so do the loose stools. I've also has rosacea for the past 2 years, now it has gotten worse during this flare up. I had read that some doctors think that rosacea is related to poor digestion, hence loose stools. Undigested protein can cause inflammation. They suggest that low stomach acid could be the cause. I am going to do a trial run with betaine hcl with my meals and see how it goes. Sometimes problems with our bodies will manifest in different areas.
