Well I am having better and better days. I go to the bathroom only 5 to 8 times a day now once at night and haven't had any burning for a few weeks. I feel I am getting better and better and it is all since last Decembers attendance at the Wise seminar in Santa Rosa. But you have to stick at it. I do yoga everyday with a routine that incorporates the stretches on the CPP website by one of the guys here. I have found over time the best one is laying on your back with your butt up against the wall with the legs spread wide and then consciously let the bottom and pelvis drop. The anal sphincter relaxes and that has made a huge difference. I still meditate..at work I go to the park for 30mins in my lunch hour and listen to a tape.
My life is nearly back to normal. If you had told me this would be the case 2 years ago when I was contemplating swallowing a whole packet of Elavil so I wouldn't wake up to face another day of agony I would never have guessed things could be so good again.
One more year to keep up the protocol and I may be truly free of CPP. And its not even a year since I went to the US so its all good.

Best three weeks in years
CPP since 2005. Prior to CPP always overly fit and active. I am female. Had two natural births: singleton 1998 and twins 2000. 2002 emergency back surgery - L5S1 herniation. Then recurring UTIs. Usual antibiotic overload. Then constant debilitating burning bladder and reaction to many foods. Australian Pain Clinic 2007. Turning point was Dec 2009 Attended Wise Clinic in Santa Rosa USA.
Was helped by strict diet but now eating normally after years of restricted diet - wonderful. Helped by: stretching, relaxation, yoga, trigger point, warm baths. Worsened by: stress, sitting, abdominal or glute exercises and salicylates
Medication: Now off all pain clinic meds no more Endone or Elavil only Lyrica 50 mg as Dec 2010 just reherniated L5S1disc and had discectomy. Its taken years but I feel I am over it.

Great news - consistency is the key. Too many folks want things to work right away but it takes time an dedication to see results.
Best of luck with the continued recovery.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Re: Best three weeks in years
That V stretch is my favourite. It may sound weird but I some times tie a foot to each bedpost so that the legs will stay apart while I sleep. Only occasionally as I don't want to seem kinky. One time my parents in law saw the ties on the bedposts and asked questions!
Age: 43 | Onset Age: 17 | Symptoms: previously: constant urgency, premature ejaculation, burning at tip of penis, pelvic ache current: semi annual flares. | Helped By: PT, yoga, stretch, keeping warm(long johns) boxer briefs, regular sleep routine | Worsened By: cystoscopy, antibiotics (fluoroquinolones) alcohol, coffee, stress, masturbation, cold

Yes, I agree with Wise when he said, dont celebrate. But I never took that as dont be happy about it. Just take it all in perspective. You are going to backslide. It happens. But keep things up, and you will continue to move forward more than back. Plus, it helps you remember that things CAN be better, and that is important for recovery in the long run, in order to keep hope and keep working at it. That this is not a degenerative condition that cannot be reversed. That permanent damage is not being done.
"I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet". In my self-loathing and pity partys (which happen often), we should remember this. I am happy I have a chance at recovery, vs conditions like MS or Alzheimer, which are much more permanent and always worse with no real way back.
I am much more worse off now than I was a year ago. For me that sucks a lot. But I need to look into a 10 year perspective of my condition. And now is some backslide. But I remember last year, know I can get there, and be even better than that!

Re: Best three weeks in years
Mach5 you will get there I know it stick with the things that work for you. I found low dose drugs like Lyrica and at the moment Redneck Cocain (Endone, amitriptyline) for my awful sciatica from over doing yoga forward bends this is irritating my pudendal nerve now through cross talk and the anal and pelvic stretching and meditation and re and re reading Full Catastrophe Living help me. And this week I saw the pain management psychologist just for a top up to check in. She reminded me how far I have come. I am back at work. I was out of pain but its a bumpy road and the difference is I feel happy now before I was depressed about my future having no future it seemed despite my current back issues. Hang in there I am off to do the protocol again and have a nap all my kids are doing stuff and so I have that window to grab.
Best wishes
