Ejaculation/Pain in Thigh

Post by Gary »

I experience a spray of pain in my left thigh upon ejaculation. Anyone else have this specific (pain in leg with ejaculation) symptom of chronic pelvic pain? This has been going on for 29 years. Been to every specialist imaginable. No one has been able to help me. Pain is lessened with less frequent ejaculations. Have read "Headache in Pelvis." It's been a big help. I have begun physical therapy and I think it's helping, but too soon to tell. Again, anyone have this specific pain upon ejaculation and what has helped? Would be reassuring to know I'm not alone with it.
Age: 53 | Onset Age:24 | Symptoms: pain in left thigh upon ejaculation, frequent urination, levator ani pain, perineal pain, prostatodynia, pelvic muscle myalgia | Helped By: less painful the longer the time between ejaculations, intrapelvic trigger point release | Worsened By: "ratcheting up" while ejaculating, frequent ejaculations, sitting.

I've never heard of it before. Is this your only symptom? If so, this is not UCPPS.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I've heard the phrase "Fruit of my loins" to describe men's children and this kinda hits home really in this case. I had this slight symptom for many years along with slight general perineal pain after ejaculation for years since 18. Usually cleared up after a night's sleep. Became really noticeable after acute onset, along with all kinds of leg pain. I believe the fact that all the many nerves innervating the area pass thru the dysfunctional pelvic floor muscles create all kinds of leg symptoms. Also many of the nerves originate off the same s2 ,s4 branch and one irritated nerve thru the pelvic floor can "crosstalk" to other(s)with no such irritation setting off the whole area. Some people will vainly try removal, cryogenic procedures trying to hunt the different nerves innervating the thigh, back leg etc (posterior femoral nerve, etc) to no avail because of this.
I remember a reasonably researched post on crosstalk I read and saved somewhere. I will try to post it. A search here on "leg pain" "legs" "thigh" thigh pain etc will may turn up numerous results.
Age:43 | Onset Age:36 | Symptoms: First urinary and backside, golf ball feeling, now ok (no heavy exercise) . Major onset seemed to be with heavy coughing spell , felt "tearing" or nerve pain in rectum/prostate. | Helped By:Hot showers, sleep.Worsened By: Type A obsessiveness ... Stressing, what-if thinking, weights.

I have had leg pain which I've been able to associate with some chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome flares. We're not talking anything explosive, but it can be nagging and quite uncomfortable.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!

Age: 26 Onset Age: 17 Symptoms: Shooting, nerve-like pains throughout the penis, which abruptly hit and leave. Testicular pain, perineum pain, burning/irritative urination, extended pain after ejaculation. Occasionally, some allodynia or ache in the coccyx/sacrum/thigh/buttocks/legs. Diagnosis: Pelvic floor dysfunction, degenerated lumbar disk, and mildly herniated lumbar disk. Helped By: Physical therapy, pain management doctor, hot baths, therapy pool, stretching regimen, breathing exercises, relaxation, distraction. Worsened By: Arousal/ejaculation (worst), constipation, panicking/obsessing, other triggers depend upon current symptoms. Tests/Prior Treatments: Too many antibiotics to count, multiple urine tests (all normal), testicular ultrasound (normal), bladder and renal ultrasound (normal), lumbar and pelvic MRI with and w/o contrast (revealed disk problems), Elavil 25mg (caused retention), Flomax 0.4mg.

Hi Gary,

I'm sure there are other conditions, perhaps of nervous system nature which could cause this (and many other) symptoms. It seems as though there are two types of UCPPS - problems with the upper muscles in the pelvis (perhaps the abs and the muscles around the bladder) and then the muscles in the lower pelvis (pelvic floor and LUTS symptoms).

I do have strange symptoms in my legs - feelings of crawling and spasms and tension, cold etc, and heat after I exercise. It's mostly a restless sensation whereby movement can help it. It's usually worse while sitting. Maybe it's something to do with the bloodflow and how it's lessened while we sit and how this affects nerves that are already sensitized.

I would say it's all part of the cylce of 'events' that occur when muscles are in a state of tension and spasm for an extended period of time.
Age: 25 Onset: 23. | Symptoms: Burning in urethra, urinary frequency/urgency, 'golf ball' in butt syndrome, muscle tension form pelvis to calves, constipation, IBS, testicular pain/inflam, bladder pain when nearly full, difficulty relaxing muscles (coccygeal, levator ani etc.), pain and muscles tension in anus/perineum. Helped by: quercetin, relaxation, baths, heat packs applied to perineum. Worsened by: Stress, driving, sitting, jogging, caffeine etc.

Thank you men for your responses. Good to feel I'm not alone. Intrapelvic trigger point release (for which I drive 100 miles to receive) combined with external pelvic trigger point and phys. tx., which I get locally, seems to be helping. I think the entire pelvic floor and region is so constricted that numerous muscles, large and small, are contributing to "entrapping" (for lack of a better term) the femoral nerve somewhere along its route. Urologists, neurologists, chiropractors, psychologists, a surgeon, and an osteopath have not been able to help me for nearly 30 years. Not until I found "Headache in the Pelvis" was I able to get on a productive path. The info. about "crosstalk" of nerves is reassuring that I'm on the right path as is the info. about upper and lower UCPPS.

I think you've just put your finger on how to recover. The thing is, if you have, like me, tension in certain muscles, this will pass and you will learn certain things to do to help. For me, driving isn't comfortable, due to how it's impossible to adjust the seat in a way that my hips are higher than my knees, this slackens the aductors and allows them to get tense again. So, if I had to drive far for a treatment, basically it wouldn't have been any good as after 15 mins driving I need to stretch and move about for twice that time. If they were to invent a pill to cure chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome they would have to invent as much different pills as there are sufferers - we all have different symptoms and varying degrees of them.

But, one thing is common, disease is simply 'dis' - 'ease', i.e. disease is caused by not being at ease. In my case I damaged my legs, pelvis and back after a fall and then being told that I'm fine (they didn't x-ray or scan the rest of my body, just one leg) so you could say that the injury and 'insult' to the pelvis was the underlying cause, but more importantly, it was the 'dis-ease' I felt that brought on the condition, the negative thinking, the subconscious 'guarding' of the sore areas.

I know what's wrong now, I no longer need to be wondering what's up. I accept the condition now and no longer run to A&E when I get inflamed genitals in a fit of anguish, I relax and know that all I have to do is to go somewhere private and stretch the muscles. This is very compelling, that we can empower this condition. And we can.
