Frequency

Post by Paso »

Hey,

I went to see my urp who examined my prostate. Normal white cells and normal prostate. This is the answer to why almost all of my symptoms have vanished in the past 1 month. I still have frequency and some spasms in the abdominal muscle (like 5 per day lasting 1-2 secs). I just started relaxation program and just read " A headache in the pelvis" and it seems as if my symptoms are somewhat tense/muscle related from the way I feel. My frequency is not that bad, but after 1-1,5 hour I can feel the urge to go again, even though I do not have any problems holding it for 1-3 hours more. I will go off my Cipro on Friday since my bacteria is now under control, but any ideas on what to do with the frequency issue? I started on Xatral OD 3 days ago and feel some improvement, but not huge.

Btw I have no problems sleeping through the night.. (so far) :(

As said ideas please...

Also have anyone been to Stanford and tested their treatment. I think I will have a hard time getting the proper muscle treatment here in Sweden.

Elmiron has been the best thing so far for my frequency and general symptoms.

With regards to pelvic floor treatment I'm going to ring around some physios to see who does it (since I forgot to ask my NHS uro about it, duh!).

Richard,

Why do you take Elmiron? I thaught that was for IC patients? Do you have IC? How are you feeling? What is your freqency like now and how bad was it when it was at its peak?

Thanks

Elmiron is being tested in the UK for IC and Prostatitis - the reason being that in some circles IC and Prostatitis are thought to be the same thing, or at the least highly alike.

Here's what Elmiron's UK company says:

"The mechanism of action for Elmiron® is through its ability to adhere to the interior bladder surface and prostatic epithelium and augment the natural GAG barrier. By repair of either the permeable bladder epithelium or prostatic epithelium, diffusion of the irritating components in normal urine through the bladder wall or prostatic urethra is decreased and the symptoms of IC or AP [Abacterial Prostatitis] are ameliorated"

I don't want to go into detail about my frequency as that would mean thinking about it and I'm trying to forget. Suffice to say it was bad and now it is getting better. It started getting better 1.5 months into taking Elmiron. Coincidence or therapeutic effect, I can't be sure until I come off it.
