Abdominal trigger points

Post by DMcU »

Hi all,

I noticed that when I push in and down toward the ground around my navel area or anywhere in the abdominal region that this causes a muscular feeling of pain bladder radiating right down into my pelvis and it then causes the muscles in the perineum to tense thus causing an urge to urinate.

I do massage the ab muscles every day and I have noticed some very painful area's that are most likely trigger points. I have been treating these for 2 months now but they are very stubborn to remove and have not gone yet.

Could it be that when I push in and down that this is simply putting pressure on the bladder and if it contains urine, that this is simply aggravating it and causing the muscles to act up as a result?

Your thoughts would be appreciated,

Thanks.

I would only treat these TP's after you have emptied the bladder to get a true sense of where the discomfort radiates...

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Hi,

I have been working on the ab muscles a lot and I empty the bladder first but what I find is that even though I definitely have some fairly sore spots, they don't seem to refer much pain, it's more localised pain. But when I push in and down towards my bladder that it does tend to start a spasm or tension in my perineum which does make me feel as though I need to urinate. I was thinking maybe this is due to the ab muscles being tight but I'm fairly sure they have loosened up a lot lately with the work I'm doing. That said, this work doesn't seem to help my condition much.
Basically I feel during the day that there is a muscle in the perineum that is tensing and releasing and as it does this it causes me to feel a need to urinate. It increases as the bladder fills and becomes a powerful physical spasm (which gets far worse if I'm anxious) that gives me about two minutes flat to get to a toilet. As the spasms reach their most powerful I feel a burning sensation running up in a line from my suprapubic bone to my navel. This lasts until a few seconds after I have voided.

Any thoughts!?!
