spinal cord stimulation

Post by gmccormack »

Went to the pre-visit before my nerve block (hypogastric), getting it in less than 2 weeks. The dr mentioned that he would like to eventually try spinal cord stimulation if none of his other ideas worked.

here is a basic tutorial :http://www.poweroveryourpain.com/sb/lea ... scs_works/

He said he finds little risk and the best part is I can try it out for a few days before I have to be fully committed to getting it permanently implanted. He said that I can talk to his other patients who have had this done as he knows that it can be a bit overwhelming.

I had heard of this procedure before and thought it was dead, ancient therapy that worked but we have better stuff now, I guess I was wrong they have made some pretty nice advances with this over the past 30 years. I haven't seen anything on this for chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and the dr said he would be my first but thought he could maybe get it to work with some tweaking.

It is not something I'm going to try in the next 3-4 months but in the next year if the pain is still stagnant I might give the trial a shot...

Any thoughts? :icon3:
