Post by Bladderneck »

Hi folks. :hand:

How many type of wands are available for us?

I'm not advocating Prostate massage as I don't know much about it.

But I have Puborectalis spasms.

Hi there,

There are several kinds of wands available. Check out our Amazon store for a few that we recommend. As well, they are experimenting with a new kind of wand at the Wise-Anderson Protocol clinic. Folks who attend are getting them, but they are not otherwise on the market yet.

It should be emphasized that these wands and pelvic floor PT in general are not for prostate massage. The target is the musculature of the pelvic floor, which does include muscles inserting near the prostate, but not the gland itself.

Yep - still at the clinic trial stage (we had to sign a decent amount of paperwork at the clinic before we were given them). Great bits of kit - they have a strain gauge built into the shaft that is connected to an external reader so at all times you can see the pressure on the tip of the wand that you are putting on the internal muscles (otherwise you could end up doing some damage with a normal wand unless you are careful). Personally I would just recommend using a your own gloved fingers rather than any other sort of wand - that way you can control the pressure and get to understand the internal landscape.

The Taylor Lam. crystal wand (regular, not Delux one) from Drugstore.com has been a GREAT help in my improvement. The only negative thing that I can say about it is that it has gotten MANY cracks in it from use so I use a condom with it. Imagine having to go to the emergency room to have the plastic fragments removed from up in your butt!! What would they think of you??!!

I cannot say too much on this topic at the moment for confidentiality reasons, but I will drop a hint that it is likely that the very best wand will come onto the market this year at some time. No questions please. I'll announce something when all the formalities are complete.

If any of you can hold out for about 6 months, it may be worth your while.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I am one of the lucky ones who is doing the trial. From a female perspective it is a big help as well. Vaginally and anally I am able to treat more than I could before and I can gauge how much pressure I am using each time to get a result. I showed it to the pelvic pain clinic they had seen them before but not like this one. I think it will get a lot of interest when it is available. My kids saw it when I came back from the States and they think I am mad. I was more concerned about it being picked up in my baggage and having to explain it to customs. But it went through fine!
CPP since 2005. Prior to CPP always overly fit and active. I am female. Had two natural births: singleton 1998 and twins 2000. 2002 emergency back surgery - L5S1 herniation. Then recurring UTIs. Usual antibiotic overload. Then constant debilitating burning bladder and reaction to many foods. Australian Pain Clinic 2007. Turning point was Dec 2009 Attended Wise Clinic in Santa Rosa USA.
Was helped by strict diet but now eating normally after years of restricted diet - wonderful. Helped by: stretching, relaxation, yoga, trigger point, warm baths. Worsened by: stress, sitting, abdominal or glute exercises and salicylates
Medication: Now off all pain clinic meds no more Endone or Elavil only Lyrica 50 mg as Dec 2010 just reherniated L5S1disc and had discectomy. Its taken years but I feel I am over it.

I've just sold all of my ANZ shares that have been gifted to me over the years and making my way to Santa Rosa next week, will def ask about a wand as my poor PT here in Melbourne is getting RSI and can't go in deep enough.

Good on you. I have only just finished paying for my trip but my pain is half what it was six months ago and now gone back to work four days a week. As my urologist said to me five years ago "this is a bugger of a problem". The Endep (amitriptyline) alone is not enough..you need to do all the other stuff as well. Good luck.

Jatheral I had my best week in ages at the course because of all the relaxation. I hired a car and drove with a sat nav. No kids, no body but me to worry about it was great. Loved driving over the golden gate bridge it was a buzz. An you will be there at a lovely time of year. Try Endep it has been my staple for the bladder irritation and urgency. It makes you groggy at first but you get used to it.

I noticed you got a reaction to antibiotics. So did I. I had lots as a kid for a bone marrow infection but then more as I got ill with small kids. My bladder now can't tolerate any of the sulphur ones and a lot of foods and any chemicals. Its like my bladder nerves became senstized. Its a bore. Much better than 2 years ago but a long way from 'normal"

Re Davids Wand.

This afternoon when my pain flared up, instead of having ½ an Endone, I went to the bathroom and used the wand vaginally and rectally for about ten mins. I used an amount of pressure that shows as 35 on the machine (which I think needs to be recalibrated). I did 15 mins of relaxation (The secret garden I put on another page here under "wonderful free meditation"). And did some stretches. Very minor pain more like a dull ache. If I had had the Endone I would have thought it was that. I think it was mainly the wand as I have a sore point that causes burning straight away afterwards but now seems to settle. I was told to do it once a week but find once every three days in a small amount helps. Anyway I am getting somewhere with this thing.

Weee thats excellent news re the wand.
I spoke to my GP last night, he's prepared to put me on low doses of a TCA when I get back (he mentioned Endep), I've discontinued St John's Wort (stops me from sleeping).
Put more importantly he wants me to undertake a plan with a psychologist, re anxiety management and RSA breathing which I need since the adr on the Moxifloxican. Not bad for a bulk billing centre, and given how I feel after a good meditation (the pain really does drop off).

Currently sitting at my desk in Docklands overlooking the Yarra, its T minus 1 day till 3 weeks of leave :icon6: , my godson has been told no parties while I'm away, not to let the miniature wookee eat too much (our long haired cat), and for the love of god not to drive my new VW.
Picking the rental up at San Fran and will be doing the drive over the golden gate :D
Except for the hotel in Ashland (seeing the shakespeare festival) every place has a spa, a few nights in San Fran, so relaxation central.

Oh reminds me, if you have an iPhone then there is a brilliant app from Oasis Meditation, can set a 10, 20 or 30 min session and its really good too. Freebie version as well, search for Oasis Meditation on podcasts. The Moxifloxican damage is slowly going away, I know it will take a few months to years to go but its a mild aggravation now.
