Hi,

So far as I know, nobody here can answer your question. We have nothing to do with Doctor Smith's office or their pricing decisions.

I can tell you that spending a few hundred dollars to see a specialist is not unusual in the United States. I spend between $260-$280 to see my pain management specialist, between his fee and the facility fee. That's just for an office visit.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!

Age: 26 Onset Age: 17 Symptoms: Shooting, nerve-like pains throughout the penis, which abruptly hit and leave. Testicular pain, perineum pain, burning/irritative urination, extended pain after ejaculation. Occasionally, some allodynia or ache in the coccyx/sacrum/thigh/buttocks/legs. Diagnosis: Pelvic floor dysfunction, degenerated lumbar disk, and mildly herniated lumbar disk. Helped By: Physical therapy, pain management doctor, hot baths, therapy pool, stretching regimen, breathing exercises, relaxation, distraction. Worsened By: Arousal/ejaculation (worst), constipation, panicking/obsessing, other triggers depend upon current symptoms. Tests/Prior Treatments: Too many antibiotics to count, multiple urine tests (all normal), testicular ultrasound (normal), bladder and renal ultrasound (normal), lumbar and pelvic MRI with and w/o contrast (revealed disk problems), Elavil 25mg (caused retention), Flomax 0.4mg.

I would imagine that the price covers a very thorough examination and some in-office tests. Why not call them and ask what you're getting for the money?

Cost me $200 when I saw him in December. The price is detailed separately as you pay him directly - it's not taken by Dr Wise's office.

In the UK paying for a private Urologist appointment would easily cost £150-£300 (with any tests) - so the cost for Dr Smith was reasonable.

Got to say, he was excellent, and worth the charge.
Not medical advice: Read my progress to date : Read about my W-A clinic visit

Age: 54 CPPS: 20 Yrs Recovery Status: 95% Symptoms: Pain around perineum Makes Worse: Tension, sitting Makes Better: Stretching, triggerpoint therapy, relaxation

I was not aware of the price... But I still believe it is worth.

I am going to attend to the clinic in march. My symptoms are like 90% - psychologically I'm like 50%. I am more affected in my psychic, the personality and life style I have adopted because of this, then the physical problems for now. However, there is always a level of pain, specially in the perineal area and probably the prostate... I will go there because I need to know everything about this and to have an expert telling me. . your problem is here... and you should do this to help you. We all need to be happy and don't think prostate 100% all the time.

I have been doing Theracane and an abs massaging and stretching regime everyday... and it is working very well I think. I also have found pain in the middle of my back, on the left side close to the spine that is very hard to relief, I wonder if that can be related with my perineal discomfort...

cheers
