Herman Miller and Bungee Chairs

Post by harpo-rider »

OK, I need to find a friggen chair I can sit on.
I tried a Bungee chair for about 30 seconds (had to give it back to the busy admin lady at her desk) and it seemed pretty comfy. Can't find one locally to try for an extended period of time and I don't want to order one on line until I know it's not going to flare me up.

Does anyone have any experience with these chairs, ... good or bad?

Age:43 Onset Age:33 Bacterial Prostatitis lasted about 1yr, remission, then back in and out of nonbacterial ?? (whatever) for years. Never nearly as bad and constant as now (last few months) Symptoms:Burning perineum/urethra, Urgency, Weak urine stream & spray, Post urine dripping Helped By:Lying down (preferably on back) Worsened By:Sitting. I used to only hurt when sitting for prolonged periods in certain chairs and motorcycle seat. Ergonomic bike seats used to be A-OK. Standing and or hiking always made me better. In the past 3 months I have rapidly declined. Everything hurts, sitting, weights, work, hiking and now even sometimes standing provides no relief. Almost constant pain of some degree unless I'm lying down.

I don't know anything about the bungee chair...But I use a Herman Miller Mirra chair and find it comfortable - it is the only chair I can sit in for an extended period of time.

Thanx for responding. Just checked the chair out on line. From the pix I've seen, the bottom (seat) doesn't look like anything special. Any clue as to why it's so good for you?

What are some of your symptoms. Do you have the whole burning urethra / perineum thing??

Sorry to be such a pain in the A$$ but could someone please explain the attraction of the chair. Looking at the pix on line I just can't figure out how the ergonomics of the seat provide any relief.

I did order a Bungee chair yesterday.

The seat of the chair is made from a fine mesh that distributes your weight unlike any other chair. When I sit in other chairs I feel like the brunt of my weight is on my butt, in this chair, it is on the bottom of my legs. I also think the mesh allows better bloodflow through the legs preventing tightening of the hammys and such.

I also find it much easier to consciously relax my pelvic floor in this chair...I don't know why exactly, but it is the ergonomics.

I am not a chair engineer, so really I can't tell you anymore than I already have. This chair is extremely comfortable relative to others I have tried...

Good luck with the bungee though, it seems like a similar idea

Thanx cadyfatcat,
That was definitely as much of an explanation as I could have hoped for. :-D

Well I hope my bungee chair at $239 delived to my door works out 'cause I just gotta say that all the treatment costs I am incurring for this, the worst flare I've ever had is sucking every last cent I have, and one of those Mirra chairs would definitely be out of reach at this point.

Thanx again and have a pleasant evening,
Joe

Keep your receipt. I saw one in a furniture store a couple of days ago. I sat in it and it was as painful and uncomfortable as most other chairs. The bungee cords are stretched fairly tight.

Well, Ill probably keep it around a bit longer. Undecided so far. If I'm not all ready in pain it seems I can sit in it substantially longer than other chairs. However, I'f I'm all ready burning, nothing seems to help but lying flat on my back anyway.

So overall, better than anything else I own but definitely not gods gift to CPPS.

Herman Miller Chairs

Post by aeocaravaggio »

Hi all

I just went and tested some chairs. I found the Herman Miller Aeron to be very comfortable but only sat in it for a few minutes. I did not get a chance to test out the Mirra which I know a lot of you here like. From looking at pictures online of the Mirra it is hard to see how the seat on it compares to the Aeron, is it at all similar? Does it sink in more? Honestly I did not like any of the other Herman Miller chairs other then the embody which was ok, but not as good as the Aeron. I really did not like any of the other chairs I tested because they all sank in too much and i just can't stand that. Also why do so many people here not like the Aeron?

thanks
