No side effects (that I could distinguish) from Taking Algonot.
I am not suggesting a casual approach toward taking nutritional supplements. We all know about the cases where particular supplements have proven to be harmful. Of course there are situations where a particular substance is harmful to a subset of individuals; also instances where supplement X should not be used in conjunction with supplement or pharmaceutical Y.
I don't want to oversimplify, but...the ingredients in Algonot are essentially:
Quercetin -- formulated within a particular form of olive seed oil to make it more bioavailable.
Glucosamine and Chondroitin -- are widely used today by millions of people for Arthritis and a range of other conditions. I am not aware of any side effects... but you should look this up for yourself.
Quercetin is also generally recognized as safe. But again, look it up.
Re
Quercetin, one caution has been restated many times on this website and elsewhere. Those who are taking Quinalone Antibiotics -- Levaquin, Cipro, etc -- should be aware that
Quercetin might "compete" with the antibiotics in ways that could specificly inhibit antibacterial action. So anyone taking Quinalones should avoid
Quercetin on general principles.
(Of course one might take the position that the Quinalone Antibiotics are known to have anti-inflammatory effects and that these effects are -- for most people -- more significant than the anti-bacterial activity. Still, if you're taking these antibiotics, probably better to lay off the
Quercetin.)
In summary I'd say that Algonot is generally very safe. Verify this for yourself with some careful internet searches.
Also the Algonot Website contains good info. Generally speaking, there is good reason to be skeptical about information that comes from people who are selling something. But in the case of Algonot, we are talking about Dr. Theoharides (and other members of his advisory team). While I hope that they do enjoy some financial rewards for their research efforts, I am satisfied that these are people of the highest integrity, whose motives are beyond the usual suspicions. These are the good guys, the real thing!
P.S. Although I personally favor Algonot because I accept the proposition that it is more bioavalable, I also think any accredited quercetin product is an excellent product. In a way, the folks at
Quercetin suppliers and Algonot have been partners in bringing us the benefits of these formulations.
