ultram and hand numbness

Post by jpspecial »

I've found ultram to be effective in eliminating flareups of my CPPS. Usually it takes only three days for the pain to diminish, at which point I stop the ultram. Four years ago, though, I had to take ultram for two weeks for the pain. I began to notice numbness and muscle weakness in my hands and feet. I quickly stopped the ultram, but the hand and foot symptoms persisted for months. I am again in this situation after combating a pretty severe flareup of my CPPS. After two weeks of ultram, the numbness and muscle weakness surfaced again. I thought I'd share my experience with those of you who take or are considering taking ultram. I'm also curious if anyone else has experienced this uncommon side effect (it is listed under the drug information), and if you have found anything to alleviate the numbness and muscle weakness.

Weakness (asthenia) can occur in up to 12% of patients taking tramadol if they take it for long enough. I get CNS stimulation, which makes it impossible to sleep.

Other than that, tramadol is a remarkably clean drug with very low addiction potential.

Hi,

I am under pain management treatment and have been taking Tramadol 3x/day for a very long time. True to what Webslave says, I've had almost no problems with the drug. It might have worsened my constipation a bit, but that's all.

Best,

Jay

I only took ultram twice, both times it made me feel rather edgy and a bit shaky, so I stopped taking it. Don't know if it would have helped me had I continued.
