I previously suffered 4 years ago from chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and after treatment from Bill Taylor in Edinburgh, learning to relax my pelvic muscles, valium and exercise+weight loss managed to stay symptom free for about 3.5 years.
I have now unfortunately regressed .... does anyone know of a good Physical Therapists in the England (preferably in London) to save me a trip to Scotland ..... I've seen the thread about Bill and to be honest I think its a little harsh IMO.
If there are enough of us perhaps we can convince someone to train up or even one of us can go to Stanford to learn?
Age:29 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:pain after ejaculation, burning in perineum and base of penis | Helped By:relaxing pelvic muscles, stretching, exercise, Valium, PT | Worsened By: vomiting, clenching, weight gain, prolonged masturbation/sex
I'm afraid I don't think there is Bill is the only one in the UK I know of and have been to. He helped me but cost and flights were a problem. We do need one in England
Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me
Bill is the only one I ever heard on a few web sights. Just like here in the states sometimes you have to travel to get help. People travel to Stanford from all over the world. If Bill helped you before then I would go back and see what he can do to help and teach you something to do at home. People have found relief from doing internal treatment on themselves so I would try everything!
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!
Rather than spending many £££ going backwards and forwards to see a therapist like Taylor (who helps some but not others due to lack of training and because he can only help with trigger points and not the psychological side), save your money and attend a session at Stanford. There you'll learn how to treat yourself and be independent of people like Taylor, and you'll also learn how to control the mental side that lies at the heart if the condition for many men.

After I got relief from PT I think that gave me relief to go forward with serious meditation and that it is going to help. Understand that the financial thing is even more stress and there is other options. I am doing great and will post my success! If you can affford it go to DR. Wise but if not use what you got!
