ANOTHER Question

Post by bordeaux »

My chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome seems to be aggravated by extended walking. This is disconcerting as most here note that walking improves symptoms. The pain extends from hip to hip just above my pubic bone with the muscles bunching and knotting above my bladder. It's a burning soreness type of pain that extends down to my groin but does not go to the penis or testicles. My tendons are like ropes on either hip extending into my abdomen after walking. I have no pain urinating so I don't think it's IC. One my therapists suspects this but I'm not sure as I have no frequent urgency. Light swimming is better for me although if I kick too hard and use my pelvis to thrust, I pay the price afterwards. I would like to know if anyone else has this problem as I would like to do a little more walking as a stress/anxiety buster. I also believe that I have been floxed with an overdose of Cipro so I wonder of these symptoms are a part pf chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome or the floxing. My therapist has noted trigger points here and works them out and I feel great for a day or two but any serious walking or strolling aggravates the situation.
Age: 55 Onset: 54. Helped by muscle relaxants (cyclobenzaprine), anti-anxiety prescription (atavin), stress reduction, hot baths, naproxen, Aleve (naproxen). Flaired by stress, alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, sex (ejaculation) and too much exercise. | Symptoms: burning pain in pubic area (hip to hip) and left groin area. Often constipated with burning urination after flair. Have read Dr. Wise's book cover to cover. Do stretching 2X daily as well as therapy work 3x week. 2 internal sessions/1 external.

My GP is recommending a low dose of Elavil to help with depression/anxiety and, just as importantly, nerve pain. Any one had any success or experience with this? I'm struggling to find answers as I would like to go back to work someday. I have been on disability for 6 months. The problem is improving but I daresay I'm, at best, 50%. Techniques from HIP have worked best: stretching, internal PT, external PT and stress/relaxion management. Progress seems steady but so slow. It's SO ENCOURAGING to read posts from those who have beat this and moved on. You have no idea how important these are to us who are still suffering. I read them all! Lastly, alcohol flairs me really bad which really stinks since I love great French and Italian wine. Does this eventually clear up?

When I was on antibiotics, and you can see my posts for the long list of antibiotics I have taken, walking always aggravated my symptoms and made it worse. Especially the perineum pain and discomfort. Since stopping the antibiotics, this no longer happens. I am still waiting to see the PT in NY, but I also have been seeing a traditional Chinese doctor for acupuncture and cupping, and there has been some improvement from this.

I have been finding the prostate massages have been really increasing my symptoms for a few days following.
Age, 38, unset Aug of 2008. Burning/pain post-urination at the tip. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. Have tried multiple antibiotics, prostate massage/drainage, Q-Urol, other natural products. Now, only practice mindfulness, acupuncture/cupping, and massage. As well, followed the MindBody Prescription and reprogramming the subconscious.

There are hundreds of posts about Elavil if you use the search function. It has helped many men. A small minority find that it causes acne and/or weight gain and/or increased appetite and/or drop in libido.

"Extended" walking or any over-vigorous exercise is not recommended when the pelvic nerves are in a deranged state.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.
